Point well taken, though. Just because Neto is young and has a low salary outlook, doesn't mean he's the perfect fit.

Going by BTV values, I would not give what it would take to get Witt. Guys like Neto, Abrams, Lindor maybe.

It goes without saying that any player that requires a drastic over-payment, will be a bad deal.

I'm not sure the concept is related to age. It's related to players that have already proven they can perform in the bigs vs those that have yet to play or have a tiny sample size.

Players with longer "proven" productive timeframes seem easier to project, and hence less "suspect."

Age does play a role. I'll take a 27 year old off a recent 1500 PA sample size of .850 hitting over a 33 year old with the exact same numbers. (Both still have elements of suspect in them.)

Well, some of the listed offers mentioned here, seem just like that, even if most listed are top prospects and not top proven vets.

I'm blessed to be from the Bronx, so we think differently.  Has it ever occurred to everyone that Breslow might not have been interested in Neto at all?  Drop a dime to one of your 'insider' writers to plant a story that the RS are heavily interested in Neto.  Toboni probably doesn't believe it, but has to consider that possibility.
