Two position players….its like the good ol days.  Wonder if they go SS next?

Bomilla is still on the board.

I wonder how much the NIL changes things.  Teams will need enough money to sign these guys away from NIL money, can college teams take it away?

because I’d imagine a college program doesn’t want to pay to rehab a guy.  Meanwhile I’d love for Boston to get an elite talent here.  I’d rehab a first round talent with a third round pick

18. Left handed. Throws 100 MPH. Local kid.  Sign me up

How in the world can Duran take a fastball down the middle on a 3-2 count. Absolutely horrible AB. Time to trade that bum.

Looking for something else probably

And I know that’s because the best player on most high school teams does play shortstop.

That was Bloom.

Brez

2025: 5th pick Mason White

2024: zero in 20 picks

Bloom- YES:

2023: 2nd Zanetello (knew was not going to be a SS) and 3rd A Anderson (the same) 5th pick KC (really a 2Bman/OF)

2022: Romero 1st, Coffey 2nd, Meidroth 5th

Jace Mataczynski is committed to Auburn, so maybe he doesn't even get signed. He looks like another underslot pick, so the bonus money remaining is rather large.

He was the 96th pick and projected at 131 MLB.com, 102 BA and 77 by ESPN.

We had no 4th round pick due to Suarez and no second either.

Lets see what we do in the next rounds.

In addition to pitching, sometimes catching and any place else on the field that he is needed.

I actually feel worse about making that trade as I felt last winter. He seems to be declining

He's a good player, and I'd be glad to have him, but I think fans are under-estimating the aging curves.  He'd be with us through age 37.  The number of 2026 players with an fWAR of 1.5 season-to-date:

  • 33 -4
  • 34- 3
  • 35- 2
  • 36- 1
  • 37- 0

There is a pretty good chance we will have a kind of average 2B starting as soon as next year.  At a pretty fancy price.
