Unless I missed something, the RS still had a challenge left on Yoshida's 2nd pitch.  Not using it there is a waste.  That would've made it 2-0.  That's a huge difference.  Past that, good game.

They don't blow, but they do suck. Kind of like almost the entire AL.

I will defer to your wisdom on such a vital issue.

What issue? Vacuum cleaners or the AL? There's only one vital issue. Waking up in the morning. Everything else is trivial.

All those "high" pitches tonight may have been strikes.  NESN's box didn't seem to go above the waist on anyone and the actual strike zone does.

Yanks lost.

SEA lost.

BAL lost.

HOU lost.

CLE or MIN has to lose (tied 5-5, now.)

TEX lost, too.

CLE lost/MIN won.

So Contreras leaves the game after taking a foul ball off the foot.  He was obviously limping. Why wasn't he immediately getting treatment in the dugout?  Minutes later he still had his shoe on and was alone, why wasn't a trainer attending to him?  I would have thought ice was applicable here.

Wild applause for waking up in the morning.

Agree, but I thought they made the strike zone smaller this year.

3 more Ks for Duran. Sell the speed factor and move on

Obviously, nobody wants him.  Besides, this year he is in fact the 3d outfielder with Anthony out.  He is 4th in total bases, 2d in rbi's and 2d in dingers.  He has 5 assists and 0 errors.  His measly 14 SB's lead the team.  His WAR is a measly 0.8, but he is useful.

Meh.  The challenges are a boon to MLB--good for us, good for the players, and a prod to the umpires.  I don't care if the Sox "waste" a challenge because for the last 150 years or so they had none.

From a Williams fan since 1949--I doubt Contreras was being neglected.

They still should be sellers

To what end?  They are 4 games out of the wild card with 72 games to go.  Their strong suit is starting pitching, which they have relied heavily on.  Those same arms are the ones other teams covet.

I would not mind trading one good arm for one good bat.

Is the shoe supposed to come off?  I thought compression was part of the treatment?

According to Fangraphs they have just a 23% chance of making the playoffs at all and I don’t see them making it far if they do. Last year I was satisfied with just getting in. Now I want to see a team that can make a deep run in October. That isn’t this team so it’s best to plan for a couple of years from now

Depends on how tight the shoe is. If there’s too much swelling inside the shoe it could occlude the arterial circulation. That has to be avoided.

No Crochet. No Anthony. Those are two big contributors that would really impact any postseason run.

I just found that, at least from the appearance on the tv shots provided, the training staff didn't even look at him.  He was kind of alone and that was surprising.  I would think ice immediately after the injury would be the treatment but what do I know?

Maybe he waived them off? Maybe the medical staff don't know what they are doing? Maybe they do know what they are doing and we're just looking for things to get upset about?

Yeah, but they aren't playing-and who knows when they will be back. Gotta deal with who IS playing and right now we are 28th of the 30 teams in runs scored. That won't cut it.

Maybe he threw his helmet at them…

We’re also 3rd out of 30 in runs allowed, which does cut it…

Yup .The pitching has been great...fun to watch, along with the defense. Its a refreshing change from years past when we had awful defense and mediocre pitching. But at the end of the day you also have to score runs to win and we aren't capable of doing that with the roster we now have. BresLOW failed to fortify the lineup this past winter. Had Henry opened up his purse strings and BresLOW done the right things we could have been contending for a ring instead of being on the outside as usual.

Mild mannered Willson? That'd be surprising.

If you're going against another team with good pitching that can score and you are a good pitching team that can't score, it doesn't cut it.

Given the way our players do not seem to recover from injuries everything is on the table for me.  You are probably right, it may be nothing. It just struck me as odd that a trainer would not be all over the team's best player when he was obviously injured.

I didn't like the way it looked. Contreras had to be really hurting to come out of the game. I am surprised they didn't send him down for an Xray, if Xrays are available in the facility. Or at least have him take off his shoe to look at the injury.....I don't have a lot of faith in the FLOPS medical staff.

Don't worry, he's only day to day. Nothing to worry about! 🧑‍🦽

I read a lot of medical stuff on-line, but I need to at least be at the ballpark before I make an expert medical diagnosis.

That's basically saying that you're going up against a better team.
