at their current pace, the Sox would finish the season 67-95. that is worse than the disastrous Bobby Valentine season of 2012. and the second worst in the last 94 years -only topped by the 62-100 season of 1965.

By winning %, it's the 15th worst Sox season of all time. 2020 was also worse by %.

8 of the 10 worst seasons were from 1922-1932 (before Grove, Cronin, Foxx and Doerr were brought in).

So Mickey Gasper is the new #1 catcher. ?   Narvaez and Wong better be checking their option status.  What are the pitchers saying ?

Only 40 ABs and a .732 OPS, 2 doubles out of 13 hits and only 2 RBIs.  But that is what will get you an extended trial period on the 2026 Red Sox.

Gasper isn't a great fielder, but Tracey is going to go with his WOO guys when he can. He clearly can't trust some of the previously established MLB guys. I'd rather stick it out with Narvaez and have Mickey play DH or 2B. Sogard can go to 3B.

What are Narvaez and Wong doing to make their cases?

unless i missed something, the 8-18 home start this year is third-worst in team history behind the '27 & '32' teams. nice job Brez.

Sox are desperate for hitting.  They stink at the Fens because they start mostly lefties and lack righty power.  Breslow had ignored the green monster to his peril.

Look at the freaking lineups!!!!  Atlanta starts 7 righty bats against lefty starter Early.  Thanks to the green monster in LF the Braves have huge advantage.  Sox start 4 righty bats and 5 lefty bats against righty Elder.  Two of the lefty bats are Sogard and Gasper, both switch hitters.

Am I allowed to mention that Sale in his 3d season with the Braves is 7-3 with an ERA of 1.89 in 10 starts and 62 IP.  Breslow was so eager to dump Sale the Sox paid some of his salary and asked for very little in return. I think Sale won the Cy Young his first season with the Braves.

Just for this alone he should be gone.

Sale had a couple of freaking injuries not related to baseball. He was getting stronger. I pointed it out at the time. I wanted one more year to see what was left in that tank. As you said he won the CY. The freaking CY. Breslow didn’t see that potential but Atlanta did. The rest is history.

This was one of the greatest steals in baseball.

BTW I also liked Grissom but they didn’t developed and managed him well. IMO He will end up above average in every phase of his game when all is said and done. Heck he’s better than more than a half of this staff now and moving forward.

yeah, we are that cooked at the FO.

Yoshida, Gaspar, and Sogard up this inning. A middle of the lineup that will strike fear into any SP.

🙄

Well, Anthony is fragile and Mayer can't hit. That's why I refer to them as the Coal Dust Twins.

Just imagine how worse this bad team would be if both Tolle and Early had been busts.

Or if just one of them had been ineffective.

IKF watches his double turn into a single through lack of hustle

Then no hit at all, and a. bounce out

If I suck like IKF I hustle my ass off on every play.
