Was softlaw still there in 2007- the guy who called almost everyone a Theo apologist and pink hat fan?

Those were 2 different ppl.  Law was the "theo chick" guy who would troll the entire forum.  Softlaw was your personal nemesis and the guy who you would go back and forth with for pages.

You mean soft law is Old Red?  Because I definitely see resemblance.

Im not negative at all, my whole thing is Im mad cuz when Breslow told Whitlock: you are not allowed to ask questions about Cora getting fired, you will play ball because we pay you to pay ball.....That whitlock didnt walk out (or slap him).  I come from a world where you dont talk to people like that.

I mean, Im willing to even to go as far as to say, that I can see how Breslow's plan would have worked in an alternate timeline.  Now that we see Ranger and Sonny pitching well, theres a parallel universe (great chilli peppers song) where we aer winning a lot of games 4-2 and Duran and Story are hitting close to where they were projected to be.

But Craig Breslow talks down to people, and I dont associate with that.

Breslow as a person is a whole issue I won’t embrace because I don’t listen to him speak and after-the-fact stories can be edited to make anyone look anyway the writer wants (assuming a moderately talented writer).

But as a CBO, I don’t accuse him of ignoring the offense.  He made changes that haven’t worked, but that’s not the same thing.  Certainly he paid attention to pitching and defense, and did so successfully.

But - and I would apologize for the redundancy but I’m not actually sorry - he clearly ignored the bullpen , which is the part of the staff giving up runs…

Having once read softlaw’s self-glorifying blog, no. Softlaw assumed he knew more than the media and the Sox FO about the team. You don’t get that from Old Red…

And was very hate-filled to lots of groups of people.  Whatever I think of Old Red, Ive never considered him a bigot…

Yes, I remember the two. softlaw agreed with my "No Manny-No Rings" epic thread and I agreed with him on Ellsbury being a poor defender (early on in his career,) and for some reason that made my disagreements with him more intense (to him.)

He was a real character. The ring in 2007 slowed him down a bit, and his main beef was that Theo ruined the team by deconstructing the 2004 ring team.

I think he was eventually banned.

Ive listened to him speak, and its a lot of "im the boss. im the cbo. i make the final call."

plus story and whitlock kind of corroborated each other on the "shut up and dribble" comments.

I could forgive the baseball stuff, I do feel quite confident in my read on him that hes very high ego, condescending, and just an overall jerkstore who doesnt treat ppl with respect. Now what I dont know is if thats his default state or just who he becomes when he gets agitated.  But smug, defensive body language, singing about how hes in charge seems to come out often.

Yep, I first joined the Globe Sox forum in 2007, and I couldn't believe how much abuse Epstein and Francona were taking.

It was the same here TBH.

Except TYPM is the ultimate Breslow apologist.

Or maybe I should have said was; I don’t think he’s posted since the day Cora was fired.

Too bad, because he definitely provided comic relief.

Was.

I can understand not liking Theo cuz he was young/new school....But I cant see how anyone would dislike Tito.  I assume its guys who were like "you have to play the no doubles alignment in that situation" my uncle was like that and no beef....Just some guys really love the little stuff and I can see how Tito maybe wasnt 100% by the book on the little stuff.

I liked both a lot.

My feelings towards the red sox right now remind me of how I felt when they treated like Tito garbage on the way out.

well now that your the third person to disagree, Im starting to doubt my read on the guy.

He who shall not be named has a very specific posting style. He still posts elsewhere and it is just as it was back when he was banned from here over a decade ago.

I wish him well.

It's easy to hate the manager because not every move works out. Easy to second guess every decision.

That pitcher wasn't taken out soon enough!

This lineup card stunk!

I honestly think that managing the personalities and motivating the players is more important than the in game decisions.  Over the long haul.  But Im open to being wrong on that , especially in like cases like Grady Little.

If it was sbf he would have told several of us to kiss his ruby red backside by now.

Maybe but you probably watched “The Comeback” on Netflix.  Henry was clear about in game decisions hen in the 2003 ALCS, at one point he said of Little “Can we just fire him now?”

And highlighted his scouting expertise that was able to spot All Star talent solely using the time-honored technique of waiting to see who made the All Star team and then scouting them…

To be clear, I'm suggesting TYPM might be Softlaw.  Have you encountered Softlaw before?

To be clear, TYPM is not a current poster.

I think everyone in RSN was thinking the same thing.
