As bad as things look, the AL is in pretty poor shape, these days.

A team as bad as we are is just 2 games from the middle of the pack (mid 5 teams) and 3.5 games from being a top 5 AL team by record.

More interesting is the fact that 3 of those top 5 teams are the Rays, Athletics and Guardians. Hell the CWS are 6th best!

 Nobody looks ready to step up and take up some slack in the pen.

We've already run out of starters that might have been able to help.

Pitching was supposed to be the strength that carried the worsened offense and then some.

With half the staff on the IL, there is little hope for a near term winning stretch, and even treading water for at least a week or two seems too difficult.

 

To be fair, Whitlock has 14 IP so far and Chapman has 11….

Low innings, but they haven't looked great. I think Chapman was just on a crazy run last season. Unsustainable. I think there may be underlying issues with Whitlock. 😬

Whitlock may end up on the IL, at some point.

Yes, no way Chapman could repeat 2025, but he has been okay.

I love Whitlock, but I'm a little concerned.  And the BP is not nearly deep enough to be effective without him.

Most of the fancy root beers are kinda crap. You're better off just going with A&W, Mug (for floats), Barq's, IBC, etc. When you go for root beer, that's what you're thinking of anyway.

I think Detroit will eventually become a great city once again.  But I remember a story about a woman getting lost in Detroit.  She saw a police car and asked for directions.  The police officer told he how to get back to her hotel and told her "don't stop for anything.  Not for red lights or anything else".
