Duran is 3-27 the last 7 days. Roman Anthony is 6-26 with 3 of those hits coming in 1 game. 0 HR, and 1 gift RBI when the pitcher fell off the mound fielding his little tapper.

We have limited options, but yes, we keep playing the cold bats and on top of that, they bat in the top 3 slots almost exclusively. How long is the leash?

Yoshida is at .321 OPS since April 21st.

Maybe an extreme line-up shake-up could send a message, but I'm not sure Yoshida deserves to play more. Bat Duran 9th maybe? Move Anthony to the 5 slot?

Who bats 1-2-3-4 besides Contreras and Abreu? Maybe try Mayer & Rafaela? Hell, .650 and .700 beats .550 by a lot.

Checking on Bolton's numbers, if the Red So9x can't hit him today, then all the concerns from the winter about needing bats  will be realized after 32 games.   The stats are not good.19th in BA, 26th in runs scored, 19th in hits, 29th in HRs, 26th in RBIs, 23rd in BBs, 29th in slugging, 23rd in OBP, , 28th in OPS.

After 31 completed games, those results are not just a couple guys slumping, that is an unmitigated disaster of roster construction and preparation for the season.

11-64 with one HR over the past 7 days for Story, Anthony, and Duran.

On the bright side, maybe the days off will give the entitled Story a chance to meet the president of the company to discuss long-term strategy.  Instead, you know, just doing his fracking job.

Not for nothing, but the ball person down the LF line is moving in slow-motion.  You're supposed to at least jog after the foul balls.

Maybe Story ends up having the same fate as Devers, except some money will have to be included in the dump.

(How many teams want Story? Hint: the number is very rounded.)

On a better note, Ranger Suarez who looked like a 5 year mistake in the wBC and his first few starts for Boston appears to have found his stride and should deliver a lot of effective innings.

ready for the boston offensive explosion ?  Never happens in the 1st inning.

You know I noticed that yesterday, if the same sluggard is out there. makes the LF'er chase every ricochet.

probably JH's grandson

While there is no such things as sure wins, this is the type of game we have to win if we are going to compete.  At home with a huge pitching advantage.

Always interesting to see a batter challenge a called ball.  Fortunately the umpire questioned Abreu's logic.

The Sox are also near the bottom in ABS challenges. This team is a bottom feeder.

Failure to win today puts the Sox at risk 9 if NYY wins )  of being 10 games out of AL East on May 3rd .

Consider that , Craig Breslow.  You didn't solve the OF crowd by using it to upgrade another position,  Duran's value is in the dumpster for now. You are burying Yoshida now, and consequently he isn't hitting anything anyway. .   Your selection at 3B is barely pulsating at bat.

Lineup and batting order flexibility may be a wonderful thing, but I wonder if you have a bunch of players wondering if they aren't all utility guys.

Those numbers still equate to not enough offense and the quarter pole approaches.

That's why they're near the bottom in ABS challenges. Or actually not challenging.

Red Sox plan calls for Brayan Bello to make next start, but perhaps with aid of an opener

I called this couple of weeks ago.

They can use the opener but keep the pull tab handy to jerk him back out of there

So the LoBster parade continues with Durbin fouling out.  What a weak effort.

Based on last year and now this mess of a season, I remain convinced the Sox batters have real trouble ripping an MLB fastball.

I believe the Sox can 'rip,' but I wouldn't want to be in the same room when they do.

This offense is terrible.  How does batting Monasterio 5th make any sense?  It doesn't.  We have one player with 20+ RBIs.  The Pirates, yeah, the Pirates, have 4 guys.

More LoBs , it never ends.   How does a Sox starting pitcher even stay in the clubhouse with these bottom feeders.
