Im not sure this is the case for opening day.  His eventual spot on the 2026 team, yes.  He'll either need to completely forget how to hit or get hurt.  But Im not sure hes ready by opening day, and with 2 lefties in the opening series, he might take spend the first week or so in AAA especially because I dont think hes swung a bat since he hurt his wrist last year.

Im not down on him.  Because he hit the gym.  Hard to bench him after doing what they asked.  I think hes behind though.

Getting hurt doesn’t count.  By that logic, no one is guaranteed a roster spot if they’re hurt.

The 2b pool got even more shallow with Romy now missing time.  If not Mayer, they have plenty of options, but none of them are particularly intimidating, unless the Sox see a resurgent Kristian Campbell and forget he is now an outfielder.  Or unless early camp talk about Mikey Romero is more prophetic this year than it is over every season’s past Spring Training rookie pipe dream.

Even if Mayer “forgets how to hit,” most of his competition (Sogard, Chung, Kiner-Falefa, Monasterio) never really knew in the first place…

If Romans body wants to put on 20 lbs on muscle and that makes him a 1,000+ OPS guy but makes him more suited for DH than OF, to me, thats a good thing.  And him and Duran swap spots in the batting order.  I dont think it happens this year because hes still young and nimble enough.  But there is a good chance that in 2029 hes playing 1b and is the best hitter in baseball.

I guess if the patties are thin.

Doesn’t matter.  Even thinking about bacon can cause weight gain.  I gained a pound just mentioning it in 2 posts…

Mayer doesnt need to get hurt, he is already hurt.  Have you noticed he hasnt played?

Hes not like hurt-hurt, but hes still working back from the wrist, and that makes me think they are going slow with him and I wonder if hes hit at all in the offseason.  He did add strength, so he has some body changes that he may need to get use to.  Theres a good chance hes not ready by opening day.  And Eaton has defensive versatility and is a righty, and has played well.  Eaton can sneak on this team at 3b and then eventually platoon with Abreu.

If you wanna lose weight, watch what you drink first.  Can we cut out non diet soda? Cream and sugar in the coffee? Any beers or mixed drinks or glasses of wine we can cut?

Im not a splenda avoidant, so its easy for me to lose weight.  Harder if you are anti-fake sugar and a lot of people are.  That makes it a bit hard.  Spindrift NA seltzers are a good choice but expensive AF!

Ive started keeping an 18 pack of Polar in the fridge and a 12 pack of spindrift.  The polar are for after work so I have an alternative to a white claw/high noon and at night for general hydration.  When I work out , I reward myself with a spindrift (NA)

Who is he going to lose it to? Sogard? Monasterio?  Romero?

I think Mayer is a lock if healthy…

IKF, if Mayer is struggling.

They did give the job to KC, last winter, though.

McAdam stated the Sox have no plans to put Tolle or Early in the bullpen…

I wouldn't put Early in the pen either. Tolle though...

Roman Anthony is not particularly athletic or fleet-footed.

KC is more nimble/athletic/fast.

Roman sprint speed: 27.8

Kristian sprint speed: 27.2

None of that ever made any sense to me.  One burger, one bun, then the toppings.  If you make them thin, you can't make the burger rare.  And why a second burger instead of bacon (for the lucky few), cheese, guac, jalapenos, fried mushrooms, fried onions?

I'll be happy if KC improves enough to threaten the starters.  It would be a heck of thing if Duran ever became our #5 outfielder.

Duran would easily be our #1 DH.

With KC's glove, maybe KC DH's as Duran plays the OF.

Maybe they platoon, but I can't see them stunting KC's development by having him on the bench for 70% of the games.

Im more talking about if Roman bulks up down the line.  Kristian seems more wirey but we dont know, they are both too young.

From what I've seen, Kristian is bulking up too.

My rule is fries or milkshake, I dont allow myself to get both.  Depends where I am.  Haven Brothers in Providence is famous (but not great) but the one standout is the oreo-banana milkshake which is awesome.  The triple murder burger is overrated.  Its just famous for being like the oldest food truck still going not for being great.

We have a few good burger spots here in Prov.  Where we really shine is sea food and Italian food.

Im trying to think where would be the best place geographically, to be called burger town.  I remember some good burgers in DC area.

Good, so is Early and Mayer.

I like it.  They say Early added like 15-20 lbs of muscle.
