For mojo reasons, should we change the date in the title?

Didn't we win the last time the thread title was wrong?

I don't remember, but that's why I didn't edit the thread title without asking everyone first. These games matter too much now. Want people to weigh in.

I think we won a game that had the wrong opponent listed in the title, once.

NO GAME TODAY. THREAD FOR TOMORROW!

Brandon, are you getting signs from Tim Hudson, whose judgement Cora supports 100% .

What else could he say ?   That's why AC is a coach"s manager.

Fanfools parfait gives the following odds: +- 0% chance Red Sox win today, +- 0% chance Red Sox lose today.

The over-under is a neutral integer. However much you don't bet today, they will double that amount in invisible ink.

I was overjoyed last night to see Cora's choices. What goes through his mind? I think I will play Wilbur in right field. He hasn't played in 30 games, but he was a part time starter, so he doesn't need to go down to the minors to get used to real pitching

Yessiree - what? He struck out 4 times? Every time up? Well, that's not too depressing - after all its just another in a string of bad Cora decisions! We're used to that now, aren't we?

SAD, SAD, SAD. What goes through Cora's mind? Or what doesn't go thru his mind, like real thought maybe!

I know, right?

Why would he want to jump start his Gold Glove outfielder who’s second on the team in home runs so he’s ready to play when he has other fascinating options like Romy, Refsnyder and Narvaez?  I mean, he has a WHOLE WEEK of baseball left to get Abreu going…

(This might be sarcasm)

Maybe have Abreu take some more swings in WOO today? Who are they playing? 🤔

Difficult series for my rooting interests. I guess go Sox unless the Yanks are losing!

You should be rooting for Boston regardless.  Yankees are only 2 back with 6 to play. (Really three back since TOR had the tiebreaker.)

Or let him face actual MLB pitching..  it’s not like the Sox other RF options are Mookie Betts or Dwight Evans…

They are barely even Darren Bragg.

Yanks magic number is 1?

Is it?

Is there any possible scenario in which the Yankees do not make the postseason?

I think Woosox shut down their season Sunday, but there had to be some live arms available to give Abreu  a sense of what was coming.

The goal is obvious , Have Wilyer set for the 2 playoff games , IF they make it..    Plus your Gold Glover wasn't in RF, Yoshi was .   Romy, Refsnyder and Narvaez could not have done worse than the 4 K's.    In the end none of them would have made a difference.     Sox have lost 5 of 6 last sweep opportunities , so the trend was already unfavorable.

What's fairly important is to win Game #1 in Toronto .  George Springer will have an impact , just watch.   Time for Giolito to show up big and earn his 2 years of pay.

I do not think this series is going to go well for the FLOPS. We have not played the Jays well this season at all-we are 3-7 against them. The problem is that they can actually hit a baseball and score runs. Their OPS is 2nd in the AL; we are 4th-but that is deceiving because the FLOPS have tailed off significantly. The only way we will win a game is if our pitching is stellar. Otherwise we will get swept.

Check Kevin Gausman's ERA in last 3 appearances. It's about 0.78 .   He also goes 6+ to 7  innings with a WHIP below 1.00

Tough ride for a team known for K's and LOBs

Yanks magic number to clinch the playoffs is 3. So if they lose out and everyone else wins they would miss the playoffs. I think the Sox are in a similar boat, but with going 1-5 or 2-4 as potential doom scenarios.

Yes, their odds are only 99.9% to get in!

What would keep them out?  Asteroid strike on the continental US that wiped out all life and cast a nuclear winter upon the remainder of the world?

That and the Yankees going 0-6 while being passed by Boston, Houston and Cleveland while tying Detroit for the last WC (Detroit has the tiebreaker).

You certainly that asteroid apocalypse thingy is 99.9% unlikely? And second question, are you For Imprint for certain?

Technically, the Royals haven't been eliminated yet and they are 6 games back.

Gee.  Who would have expected all this negativity?

Are you asking me to eliminate them?

I think that might be illegal.  But maybe not in Kansas City?
