He stinks offensively

Whats worse, he looks bad doing it

Is Romy out?

Raffy has a lot to offer defensively but he is a completely undisciplined hitter with no game plan other than to get up there and hack.  Pitchers know not to even bother with strikes because he will chase no matter what.  Offensive liability

Thanks to you, I always check those scores before coming onto talksox.

Perhaps.  My version is that letting Devers and his .905 OPS go was tricky, especially with Bregman on the IL.  I think Devers was the ideal DH even though overpriced.

However, Devers was also in vocal and public disagreement with how he was being asked to DH and then to play 1B.  More than that, the Sox were changing right before our eyes because during Devers final week the Sox had a terrific, needed 6 game winning streak that was all about the Sox pitching.  On top of that, Breslow wanted to bring up that top talent from Worcester.  Bregman was a great fit with them even from the bench, and Devers was not.  Right around the time Bregman returned, the Sox went on an 8 game winning streak which also benefitted from the pitching.

Right now, I think it's fair to say that Devers bat is missed, but not what came with the bat.  As for the deal, let's not forget that Breslow was peddling a very pricey DH with another 10 years left on his big contract--and the Giants didn't blink.  They took every cent of it.  Whew.  The players were incidental.

and we took the absolutely worthless Jordan Hicks and his $12.5 million a year for this and the next two years. we were robbed.

We got rid of a selfish malcontent and his entire remaining salary. That’s enough for me as long as Henry spends the money on talent.

Rafaela Ks on two pitches a FOOT outside.
He is just awful with a bat. He needs to sit.

Actually, there were 3 pitches right on the margin of becoming strikes and not a foot outside. He's definitely struggling at the plate, so no need to exaggerate.

This is a typically stupid, dumb, asinine lineup by Cora.  Heck, he's got a seriously injured guy--who's also too old to play anyway, batting cleanup.  Bregman's batting 2d in a slump.

There, just like a told you.  Duran, batting 5th, struck out.  Why is he in the lineup!!!?????

I guess Cora knew what he was doing putting that seriously injured guy in the clean up spot. 463 foot home run!!!LOL

They were well outside the zone. That’s no exaggeration.

Have they said why Romy left the game?

No, but he had a hitch walking out to the clubhouse.  It looked like the kind of thing that will stiffen up overnight.

Sox were due for an injury. It's been a week since the last one. What a fragile F'ing team.

We may have been robbed, but the Sox in fact got better without Devers.

I’d give him another inning

Not me. It's not about me thinking he'll get hit, next inning, but more about not over doing it.

Remember how we all laughed when they said we'd be a better team, then dood-a-lee-squat at the deadline.

I agree. Let him exit feeling good about himself.

Tough call.  On the bullpen side is that the Sox have Thursday off.

Did no one talk to Early and remind him his first batter in the 5th had/had an OPS of .532?  Now he has the top of the order with 0 outs and a man on 1b.

This is also the proverbial 3d time through the batting order.  Nice K!!!!

Or, as Rick said to Ilsa, "we'll always have Sacramento."

I guess they decided to not take him out Early!

What a great debut!
