Yesterday was memorable both for the starters and eventually for the Sox ineptitude at the plate yet again.  The Pirates, the worst hitting team in MLB, had 4 doubles last night and two of them were hard hit and off of Weissert, who has a lot to answer for.   Last night was his 6th blown save this season.

Doesn't jump out as a big weak area, and this is a team that is "slumping" on offense.

6 over .800

7 over .760

These nice numbers don't hide the lack of timely hitting and productive outs from one's eyes.

Btw, the Yankems lead the league with 21 games of 10 or more runs.

Let's see if they still hit 15 home runs a game when they face teams with major league pitchers, as soon as the calendar turns to September Monday.

Those lovely numbers ignore that the Sox OPS's are worse in August and that 2 of the 6 ain't here today.  Abreu with his freaking tight calf muscle is not expected back until the 10th.

Oh well, I'm not gonna question the genius's decisions.

Plus Gonzalez made the error that led to the unearned run and then struck with men on 1b and 2b.

That was a short paternity leave.

While true, you don't win 7 out of 8 with no key hits.

In  the replay Narvaez doesn't even look like he is swinging hard on the dinger.

Anthony Ks twice on a total of 7 pitches.

Duran, lefty bat vs righty pitcher, aggressively swings at the first pitch well out side the strike zone.

The Sox look like crap, but a lot of that is because Oveido working the edges.

The Sox won 7 of 8 with mostly excellent pitching. Lack of timely hitting just made all the pitchers' jobs tougher than they had to be.
