King is a very good pitcher, but this is his first start since May 18 so he should be on a reduced pitch count.

"Drive up that count early and get into their bullpen!" - Yours, Cap'n Obvious.

Rafaela again 2b to get lefty bats into LF, CF, and RF--plus DH Yoshida and 1b Toro.  Righty bats are Bregman, Story, Rafaela, and Wong.  Narvaez is still out but hopes to return tomorrow.  No room for Gonzalez.

Romy has only started 16 games vs RH'd SP'ers (28 v L.)

The amazing thing is, he has hit .942 in games he starts vs R and .889 v L.

People speak of the need for Abreu to bat v Lefties, when it seems like Romy might be our FT 1B solution.

Is anyone else surprised our HR leader and righty killer is batting 7th and behind 500-something batting Toro?

Abreu is 7th and Rafaela is 8th, while Toro bats 6th. Just because he's a lame switch hitter?

Have you seen the Padres’ bullpen?  Not sure that’s a great plan…

OK, that tears it.  I've had just about enough of this wise guy Yoshida making me look bad.

Love that the Padres speed merchant didn't try to go home on the liner to Abreu.

First time up, Abreu has a man on 1b.  Now he's on 2b.  Abreu walks with Rafaela coming to the plate.  With 1 out in the 2d King is now at 41 pitches.  Bases loaded with terrible Wong coming to the plate.   Second big conference by San Diego in the top of the 2d.

Wong almost GIDP but safe at 1b.  Bases loaded with Anthony up.  Anthony K's on a pitch wildly out of the zone after looking at two strikes well inside the zone.

So?

He will likely get 1 less PA than some in front of him.

Ditto Anthony, who has way too much discipline and K's badly on a changeup he's seen several of.

I know his contract sucks but I’ll always miss Xander.

Good guy who played on two Sox WS teams.

Anthony is not the only Sox hitter that likes to look at called strikes.

I respect Roman's plate discipline but LH'ers usually clean up on inside half, thigh high pitches
