I've been a fan of Murphy, but he's testing my fandom, bigtime.

Murphy had a bad outing, but overall he’s been effective. What is encouraging about this game is that Boohler was throwing at 95. I don’t remember him being there this year.

Dodgers beat TOR (Betts homered for LAD)

Yanks lost.

Sox are now just 3.0 GB TOR for ALE lead.

2.0 GB DET

Tied HOU

+1.0 SEA, +3 NYY, +3.5 CLE, +4,5 TEX, +5.5 KCR

The Yanks are very close to getting themselves out of a playoff slot.

Vegas, never drink and post. That's legally referred to as a PUI.

Dude , I live within 5 miles of 45 wineries. It's not a choice

Murphy is marginal at best.

Nah, overall he’s been fine for a middle to back of the pen reliever.  This was his 13th game and the 4th time he’s been scored on. It’s only the second time he’s allowed 2 or more runs.

He had nothing tonight; it happens.  No need to worry unless it becomes a regular occurrence.

I’d be most concerned about Seattle if Naylors injury isn’t too serious. Slaten is getting close to returning I hear and even Hendricks said he thinks he can make it back.

Set tonight aside,  agreed. But an MLB pitcher with a 6 run lead should at least be able to throw over the plate and force the hitter to make something happen.

Murphy relies heavily on his breaking balls which are harder to control

I believe he was negatively affected by Reynolds.

Damn, you sobered up quickly. My intervention was really effective.

SEA should pass TOR by October.

Got you beat Vegas. I live within literally 60 miles of 975 wineries. No need to stay sober given the circumstances 😉

Fred , 45 wineries within 5 miles is 9 wineries per mile.  Your 975 in 60 miles is only about 15 per mile, so clearly one of them is superior. But we don't count old country farmers making some home brew out in the barn to get our numbers up

The Sox go 5-1 in the first half of this group of 12 games vs quality opponents, now ready to finish with 3 in SD and 3 in Houston as they try to avoid the West Coast bogeyman.

Relying on Buehler to hold the Padres and get us on track for a win is whistling in the wind.   If Walker has a game left in him, this would be one place to apply it.

Application complete. Nice outing for WB.

I'd like for Hendricks to take as much time as he needs.....maybe next year.

And no update on Sandoval.....ugh. I thought he maybe returning in September?

Basically we are paying him $18M to pitch in 2026.

Padres are great at home, 36-19, and the Sox are lousy on the road, 25-30,  Buehler vs Pivetta makes it even worse for the Sox.  Plus the West Coast thing.

The one thing I disagree with Cora on is using Yoshida as the DH.  I'd use any one of Anthony, Duran, or Abreu instead, leave Rafaela in CF, and keep Gonzalez at 2b and Toro at 1b.  Yoshida's OPS vs righties is .533 (in 40 at bats).

What a great win @ San Diego!!  Although Buehler was the underdog, I thought his fast ball and curve were almost as good as Pivetta's, which I did not expect.

I also didn't expect the Sox to score 5 runs off Pivetta and especially that Yoshida would break out with a double and a dinger and 3 rbi's.  Cora knows best.

I watched the entire game although I did doze off a couple times (long day, old man).

Meh.  Everybody has injuries, even expensive ones.  As it turns out--see spotrac--the Sox injured salaries total is ranked 19th in MLB.
