Bergert has a 4.46 xERA and only goes 2 times through the order. Beat the breaks off this guy in his first start after being traded.

Our closest wildcard competitor is Texas, right now 4 games behind us. They have 2 more versus the Yankees and then the Phillies.

We do go to San Diego but we have a chance to put some distance between us with Crochet going tonight.

6 game road trip vs Padres and Astros will be tough.

I do want to thank the White Sox for taking care of Crochet. Starting July 6, 2024, in 12 starts, he never pitched more than 4 innings.

Last year in 32 starts, he exceeded 100 pitches only twice. This year he already has 12 games with 100 or more pitches.

I like it that he has not pitched since July 26th. He should be somewhat rested.

Sox have been ridiculous at home this season (38-21). Need to go .500 on the road and keep cooking at home IMO.

Need to keep finding rest for him down the stretch.

Yeah, it's kind of a big deal that some Fenway advantage seems to have returned.

The last few years have been unfun.

They were afraid their best trade asset would get hurt before pulling the trigger.

There's that, but they were also doing the right thing for his health.  I think most teams are ethical about this stuff.  And the Players Union keeps an eye on such things, I would assume.

Crochet also had the quotes last year about "if you trade for me and don't extend me, I'm not playing in the playoffs."

No Alcala DFA yet?

Last 5 games:

3.1 IP, 8 H, 4 HR, 4 BB, 5 K, 3.64 WHIP, 5 ER, 13.50 ERA, 19.31 FIP

He's actually been a little lucky than his numbers suggest!

Over 37,000 showed up last night.  Of course, they regretted it the moment they found out that the Sox "paid" too much for Maye.  Really put a damper on the evening finding out that Breslow is incompetent.

The winning streak, continuing last night, was barely enough to cheer them up.

At least I care enough about the players to spell their names correctly. 🧐

Alcala DFAed and they call up Isaiah Campbell. Isaiah Campbell SUCKS!!!! He may be worse than Alcala. Just wait and see. His career ERA with the Red Sox is horrible. 14 earned runs in 8.2 innings. This guy can't pitch.

No problem  sending Jorge along his life journey . He earned it . Sends a message to the other throwers to pay attention and " got to do a better job"

But why bring in proven stumblebum I. Campbell ?  Honestly , is that the only guy in Worcester or Portland who can grip a ball ?    Got to be discouraging to the other Sox MiLB'ers on the mound.

Clearly, Criswell being saved for the next uncovered start.

Can’t call up Criswell for 15 days after being sent down
