This offense just can’t hit in big moments while Cora chatting like he’s in a bar with his pals watching the game. The culture in this team is terrible and you can see it on the field from miles.

I believe you are correct, Senor.  No evidence of urgency  to get better.

Why should they, there is still 99 games to go, plus this one to finish.  Just one swing of the bat !!!

Tornado passed a couple miles south of us; I see I missed the Sox scoring 1 run but little else.

Bello lasts 6 innings; who had that number on their bingo card?

I did have B-6.

Glad to hear that.

Rafaela is more than just a pretty glove.

He just needs to avoid mental errors and he’ll be fine.

I often wonder how many more runs the Red Sox would have scored this year with a  runner on third and less than two outs, when batters struck out, instead of just hitting a medium-speed grounder to  the right side.

I often wonder, because they often whiff entirely at merely touching the bat to the pitch.

Organizational approach is launch angle.

Anyone else see the story from spring training where an unnamed young hitter asked Jim Rice for some advice; Rice did his patented hit line drives, go the other way if you have to.  You know, the complicated stuff that got him a plaque in Cooperstown.  Some computer nerd rushed over and told him not to talk to the hitters because it might contradict what the data was telling the organization what their hitters to do.  Rice basically told him to go look at his computer monitor but I guess he isn’t welcome any more,  I’ve heard similar stories from other ex-players in other organizations.

As a known Bello hater, Bello likes pitching at Fenway and at night. LAA is 29th in BB rate and 2nd in k rate. I'm calling 6+ tonight. 🫣

Campbell doesn't even know when to K vs the DP route.  he also doesn't run hard on routine ground balls, including DPs.    He is a PoS

Do you think Cora notices? Personally, I doubt it. He's too busy talking analytics.

If he learns the strike zone and is patient, I think he could develop into a solid hitter. The Sox are banking on that and are going to give him every opportunity.

HOF college basketball coach Al McGuire used to say the best thing about a freshman is he becomes a sophomore.

Most rookies go through struggles.  I think we can give the kid a bad month or 2.  He’ll either adjust or he won’t, but expecting him to not have growing pains is stupid.

All 4 minor league teams won tonight:) Roman Anthony hit his 9th HR. Grissom 2-4. Blaze Jordan who was recently promoted to Worcester went 1-4 in his debut. He could be an answer at 1B sooner than later. 19 year old SS Franklin Arias is shooting up the prospect list, hitting .379 at high A Greenville after a slow start after promotion from low A Salem. He can run too.

Personally, I believe the Sox FO rushed him too fast to the big show. He still has a lot to learn, which should have been done at Woo.           But what do I know? I'm just a couch potato.

Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt hit .196 his rookie season. I also remember a rookie second baseman for the Sox who struggled for a long time in 2007.

Could be, but hopefully they’ll leave him in the 8-9 hole, leave him at 2nd base and let him relax.  Batting him 4th was beyond stupid.

Can't argue any of that.

I'm guessing that Chapman leads all closers in pitching the 9th in a tied game.

It makes sense here; there’s no save to be had.

if makes less sense on the road.  Bug I remember a winner take all extra innings playoff game involving the Orioles several years ago where the O’s manager kept his all-star closer in the pen waiting for a save opportunity that never came.
