Grandal has a higher OPS and could catch in a pinch.

I like notin's idea of giving Jh Garcia a 1Bman's mitt.

That was my idea. 😎

Not my idea.  Mine was to give Duran one…

On Grandal:

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/06/yasmani-grandal-steps-away-from-red-sox.html

Yasmani Grandal informed the Red Sox’s Triple-A team that he is stepping away from his minor league deal. Grandal did not officially announce his retirement, but it appears he’s leaning that way.

“At the moment, it looks like he’s probably going to walk away and potentially hang them up,” Triple-A manager Chad Tracy told MassLive’s Katie Morrison-O’Day on Tuesday. “We talked (Monday), and I knew he was going to pack up and go…his response was ‘it’s time to be dad.’” The Sox technically placed him on the restricted list, according to the MLB.com transaction log. Francys Romero confirms that Grandal does not intend to return to the Boston organization.

We really want 6 1bmen?

Moving Duran would get someone else off the roster.

The best sign that Campbell is figuring it out wasn't his home run to the joke porch in Yankee Stadium.

It was his last 10-pitch at bat in the Bronx: three sharp oppo fouls, three pulled fouls, and finally a line drive single to right.

Campbell kept his hands above the ball on every swing.

He needs to start pulling the ball again. Everything going oppo isn't a great indicator for him. I'm glad he had a few hits this series, but I only saw mild improvement TBH. The TalkSox guys mentioned a rib issue with Kristian? He definitely doesn't look like the guy I saw at the beginning of the year.

Fatse, let's go... You can ignore most of the roster, just work on the important guys.

God I hope this isnt a Chavis situation.  Fatse, lets go. Hes obvs not meeting the ball out in front.

Most of the time , when you are going oppo its because you cant catch up to the heat. Especially this day and age, when the high fastball is back en vogue.

There have been very few sucessful oppo hitters by design. Tony Gwynn was special for a reason.

This is what happened with Chavis.  Teams learned he couldnt catch the high heat, and he became unplayable.

They've moved him as far back in the box as he possibly can go and it's only gotten worse.

That doesn't seem to be his problem though. He has good numbers against 4 seamers according to Statcast. I think it's pitch recognition against offspeed stuff.

This is what separates the guys that stick in the show vs those who dont.  He needs to adjust. Can he? Will he?
You can only cheat so much (e.g. moving back in the box). Either his swing is too long, too slow, his pitch recognition isnt there, or his timing is off. I dont think its a strategy thing.

If he goes back to AAA, he'll just beat up on lesser pitchers again. He needs to learn how to hit MLB pitchers.

Weird tho, usually when your pitch recognition is off against offspeed stuff , you are too far in front and striking out missing (because you see a slider as a fastball).

My nickname in the show for a while was "swingsly" cuz i couldnt recognize the low slider running away from me. And im prone to it because ive for some reason always been a low ball hitter (real life and the show). So i lvoe the low pitches, but i whiff on low sliders running away and curveballs in teh dirt. I hammer curvealls at my knees tho.  Just drop the bathead and golf. But a good curveball in the dirt will get me excited and ill whiff.

Maybe its a confidence thing.  Because hes hunting fastball, and intimidated by offspeed stuff, so he recognizes its offspeed and is thinking (dont stay in the zone, dont stay in the zone, s*** thats staying in the zone, late swing, oppo weak contact)

but if he didnt recognize offspeed pitches as offspeed, he'd be pulling because he'd be in front.

Could be that he recognizes they are offspeed but doesnt have the experience yet to estimate trajectory so he stays back too long.  we can figure this out, that much i know.
