I just saw that former White Sox and Red Sox pitcher Bobby Jenks had his house burn down in the California wildfires and lost everything and on top of that he’s battling stage 4 stomach cancer and is attempting to do an autograph signing to raise money for his medical bills. Really depressing

Mookie Betts is really sick.  He's lost 25 pounds, still can't hold down solid food, and the docs have no idea what the issue is.

Is it completely unrelated to the Abreu stuff?

No idea.  But I just read he's feeling better and is actually expected to play tonight.

A lot of people are really gonna hate the Dodgers this year.

The odd thing is, I really like most of the Dodgers players, not to mention the beloved Dave Roberts.  (I have a hard time rooting for Mookie or Shohei, for different reasons.)  That said, the Dodgers franchise has me so turned off right now with their spending that, except for the Yankees, I will pull for anyone else.  Last year's World Series was a baseball nightmare for me.  LOL

Another odd thing is that once upon a time, I thought Andrew Friedman rivaled Theo in greatness.  I am no longer a Friedman fan.

I can't be worried about another team's spending when our ownership has enough money to do the same. Per Forbes, the Sox had more net income last season than any other team in MLB. They just aren't spending enough. Dodgers have a window and are maximizing it. That's great for their fanbase. Also, MLB needs a team that everyone can be mad about (see the Yankees in the Jeter years).

I know the Dodgers' spending shouldn't concern me.  I also know that the Red Sox could spend the same if they chose to do so.  Just because they can doesn't mean that I think they should.  I don't want Red Sox ownership to spend like that.  I have always been vehemently opposed to those monster contracts.

I believe the Braves can break the 0-7 curse now that the playoffs have expanded.

I think they’ll be fine. They also have help coming. Strider and Acuna will be back in next few weeks.

It took a letter from Roberto Clemente's family for the Pittsburgh Pirates to realize how moronic it was to replace #21 on the right field wall with an add for alcohol.

Clemente is revered in Spanish-speaking lands as the Latino Jackie Robinson, because not only did Roberto have to battle racism to make it in the U.S., he also had to overcome a language barrier upon arriving from Puerto Rico.

This is a perfect opportunity for MLB to stand up for what's right -- and recognize one of the greatest international heroes in the great American game -- by retiring #21 on all big league clubs... like it has already done with #42, in honor of another pioneer, Jackie Robinson.

How is that there's a black-and-gold #21 next to the blue-and-white #42 on the outfield wall in a Double A ballpark like Hartford, Connecticut, but not in all the major league stadiums?

The Orioles fall off needs to be studied. That team is absolutely awful

Hopes were high that the new ownership was going to invest in the young core. New guys just decided to continue the Angelos tradition.

Never fear.  The Red Sox were able to bring them back to life.  🙄

Pirates are a few loses away from being under .500 as a franchise for the first time in over a century.

This afternoon the Braves entered the 9th inning up 10-4 and ended up losing 11-10. They hadn't blown a lead that big in the 9th inning since 1973.

Braves just seem destined to suck this year.

They had the same record as the Sox, a day or two ago.
