Before motorcycles, pitchers wewould just throw the ball as hard as they could,  and then they’d go get it and throw it aga, and go get it.  They would keep repeating this process for an hour.  Then someone would see how many miles away they were…

When they played tournaments in Europe, a lot of players bragged how their numbers increased when measured in kilometers.

I think he has bigger concerns than media missteps.  His job is to play baseball and hit very hard.  If he chooses to focus on getting ready and being pain-free so he can do his job, I have absolutely no issues with that…

Let's take this to the new thread about Raffy requesting a trade.

They didn’t like those paychecks in Euros, however…

Exactly.

What headline gathers more readers?

”Devers accepts new position, moves on.”

or

”Devers claims third base is his, will fight all interlopers to the death!!”?

How about, "Devers Claims he is the Third Baseman, but Whatever Happens, happens."

Campbell and Mayer are not options yet, which leaves Grissom third on your depth chart behind a platoon and …. leaving a gaping hole on the right side of the infield?!?

The first two are not on the 40 man roster, and the one banging his way doesn’t play 2b, and the one who does play 2b isnt banging his way on to the roster.

Hamilton and Romy are last year’s story.  Campbell isnt likely.  That really just leaves Marcelo Mayer or the 2021 version of Marcelo Mayer based catapulted through the Braves farm system aka Vaughn Grissom…

Three deep is a "gaping hole?" Wow, what is 1B, then? A canyon?

Adding Campbell or Mayer takes a second or two. They are depth.

The Phillies catcher Marchan is out of options.
Is this guy better than our current three backup catcher options???

Are they getting rid of him? I think he's supposed to be in line for their backup spot instead of Stubbs.

Marchan is battling another catcher to be the backup in Philly, if bres-slow thinks Marchan is better than the current group we have for the backup catcher spot, I think it deserves a phone call!

The guy he's battling:

'23 54 wRC+, -0.3 fWAR

'24 63 wRC+, 0.4 fWAR

Great pop time, terrible framer and in his 30's with an MiLB option.

I thought he was listed as out of options????

Maybe we end up with the other guy. That being said, I'm kinda looking forward to seeing how Marvaez does.

Per FanGraphs, Stubbs has 1 option remaining. Marchan has no options.

I think Ottavino, Moore and Adams are probably gone. Not sure Ottavino showed anything and Adams was already sent to MiLB camp. Fulmer and Toro probably start in AAA and see some action in BOS this year.

Watching the Sox Grapefruit action today. I don't know what I'm more happier about for the board: Mayer's RBI-triple or Rafaela's 9-pitch walk...

... also wondering if any other baseball forum exists where another team's posters would consider such news with equal positivity.

Mayer took the mize pitch for a triple. And he looked really good at second base too. This kid has had a really really good spring despite getting sick.

fulmer threw really well today. He impressed me today.

is Wilson throwing some form of cutter???  At first I thought it was a lame fastball, but now it looks like cutter or a bad splitter

My impression is that the Sox are an improved team, while the A.L. in general , and the A.L. East in particular, have gotten weaker. It's shaping to be a very good season. It would surprise and disappoint me if they did not make the playoffs.

Well said. The stat of the spring might be...

39 PAs, 3 Ks and 6 BBs by Rafaela. (.436 OBP)

Hard to tell sometimes and not all of the games are Statcast enabled. 🫣

He has both a cutter and a splitter (thrown rarely).

Lots of movement, yesterday. It's hard to know, if everyone left in the ML camp have a real shot at making the 26, and some may be there to provide rest to others or to work on something important.

It looks like these players will start the year on the IL:

60 Day? Penrod, Perales & Murphy

15 Day: Crawford, Giolito, Bello

10 Day: Yoshida

Are these the 37 guys still in camp?

Crochet, Houck, Buehler, Fitts, Newcomb NRI, Priester, Criswell

Chapman, Slaten, Whitlock, Hendriks, Wilson, Bernardino, Ottavino, Weissert, Fulmer NRI,  Kelly. Mata NRI

Wong, Narvaez, Sabol, Zavala

Devers, Casas, DHam, Story, Bregman, Romy, Campbell, Mayer, Toro

Duran, Rafaela, Abreu, Refsnyder, Thompson, Eaton

If they stick around, it'll be in AAA.

Jared jones of Pittsburgh may have damaged his UCL!!!  I really wanted us to trade for him this offseason. Hats off to Bres-slow made the right decision!!!!!

Already in an org that has projected bullpen issues and could get called up in a few weeks VS heading home and waiting for a call that may not come (Moore sucked last season, Ottavino is at the end of his career).
