The pitching side has made big strides, too- more quantity than top quality, as of now, but I expect a few to make enough improvements to move into the top quality category.

Clarke and Valera are the only two pitchers in our system with electric stuff!!
They are a long way from Boston, but they could be special!!!

Has Criswell earned a shot at a slot on the rotation? Tonight he went 5 scoreless for Woo- 2 hits, 2 BBs and 6 Ks. His ERA is down to 1.52. Jg Garcia had 2 more hits and Grandal had 3.

GRE swept 2, scoring 6 in both games. Sansone went 6 IP allowing 1 ER, while Brannon had 2 hits. Carlson got roughed up in the other game, but White homered twice, while Bleis and Arias both had 2 hits.

SAL lost 8-7, as Encarnacion homered, again (his 10th.) He also 2B'd and walked.

Early was pitching well, when the POR game got suspended.

Not sure why encarnacion is still in Salem. He is 20 years old and been hitting well all year. Already up to 10 taters before June 1st!!!

arias went 3 for 8 in the double header and it brought his average down!!!!  I hope he gets a month in Portland at the end of this summer

Woo lost 3-0. Penrod walked 2 of the first 4 batters and was yanked. Noda walked 3 times and got one of the 5 hits. Grissom 2B'd and Anthony and Jh garcia each had a hit and a BB.

POR won the completion game, as The RP'er Anderson let up a hit that allowed 2 of early's runners to score, then went 3.1 scoreless. The Sea Dogs had 3 HRs. In game 2, POR is up 8-7 late. Mullins looked good, but Troye let up 6 runs in 0.2 IP. Jordan is 3-3 w a 2B and BB (.928)

GRE is down 3-2. Brannon & Bleis w solo homers. Murphy is rehabbing (1.1 IP, 0H, oER, 2BB, 3K)

FCL is playing better. Jo Garcia went 1-2 (1.099 in limited action.)

Hoppe, all relievers named Adams and  troye are struggling at the moment!!!
Salem is a pitching desolate wasteland!!!!
fort Myers is almost as pitching barren as Salem!!!

9 pitchers (I think) on the minor league disabled list!!!!

Lack of lower level developmental pitching depth will catch up to us! This draft is a chance to fix some of the depth problems

Going into the yea,I felt we had the most minor league pitching depth in a long time. Before the Preister deal we had him, Fitts, Dobbins, Guerrero, Kelly, I Campbell, and several others that were ML ready.

Here are the current soxprospects.com rankings of pitchers:

Slaten graduated, last summer.

4 Perales AA (IL)

7 Valera A+

8 Tolle A+

9 Early AA

10 Fitts MLB

11 Dobbins AAA

12 Clarke A+

16 Paez A+

14 Sandlin AA

21 Reyes FCL

23 Cason FCL

24 Wehunt AA

25 Monegro AA

26 Guerrero MLB

27 Mullins AA

(15 of top 27 are pitchers)

29 Drohan, 30 Delzine, 32 Rivera, 35 Ingrassia, 37 Aita, 40 Tygart, 42 Penrod, 44 Carlson, 45 Fajardo, 46 Mata, 48 Neely, 50 Wu-Yellnad

(About half of the next 23 are pitchers.)

3 of 4 minor league teams lost. Jh Garcia homered (2-5 and is at 1.113, now.)

Ehrhard hit 2 dingers in the POR loss.

Gonzales went 3-4 in SAL loss.

Bleis homered (3-6 and now .795) in GRE loss. Arias 2-6 (.939)

Gonslaves with his first Salem tater today on a 3-1 pitch!!!

freille went 1 for 2 with 2 walks. Frielli has played 1st and 3rd this year. Greenville had Anderson (two more hits today.  Is over .280ba) playing first, but lugo at third.
seems like we got room for freille in Greenville!!!!

garcia and arias have been amazing since their promotions!!

Anthony with his 9th tater of the season and another walk. I think he has 46 walks versus 50 strikeouts on the season !!!

arias with two more hits. I think he had 13 game hitting streak going!!!! Anderson with his 2nd tater in Greenville.

Justin Gonzales with two more hits and 2 RBI’s

How about 28 year old "prospect" Brian Van Belle? He went 7 innings of 5 hit, one run ball, walking none in this morning's game. His ERA is down to 2.29 and has a .687 OPS Against. Jordan homered and went 2-4. Hickey hit his 9th dinger, and Grissom homered as well. Jh Garcia doubled and kept his OPS above 1.000 with Woo. Anthony K'd 3 times in an oh for 4 morning.

Where did the others rank?

1. Roman Anthony
7. Marcelo Mayer
65. Franklin Arias
88. Payton Tolle
90. Brandon Clarke
99. Jhostynxon Garcia

Aside from his very first start, Tolle has had a STRONG season. He'll be up in AA for sure.

Tolle has a lot of swing and miss in his pitches! I believe the coaching staff has him throwing a lot of secondary pitches after he settles in and trying to get him to throw those for strikes!!!!
I agree that he should be promoted to Portland, but I think they want him to sharpen the secondaries before promoting him!!

We talk about Clarke, Tolle & Valera, but what about Perales?

I say we have 4 in a tier by themselves.

The second tier might include:

Early (top tier?)

Fitts, Guerrero & Dobbins (will graduate soon)

Sandlin, Paez & Reyes (3rd tier?)

Wehunt, Monegro, Mullins & Drohan (Third Tier)

Delzine: TBD

Did I miss anyone?

Perales had electric stuff, but the earliest he is coming back is 2026!
early’s stuff was getting better and better! I think the coaching staff has him continuing to try to improve command and control!!
I have never been a Sandlin fan, but Sandlin has impressed me a ton and he has gone from serving a ton of meatballs to now getting swings and misses!! Biggest single in season turnaround this year that I can tell!!! (I have not seen many games so I do not have a complete comparison yet) but Sandlin has looked completely different since he started throwing that cutter or splitter or weird slider for strikes!!!!  I do not have the expertise to differentiate between them.

2026 is before some of these guys can even dream of being near ML ready. (Not that Perales will be pitching in MLB in '26.)

Back in April he was throwing at 80-90% touching 90 MPH, I'd have to imagine he'd be throwing off of a mound soon if he isn't now, although I feel like we would have heard about it.

He's going to get into some games in the second half of the season.

Blies with 2 taters tonight.

He's going to hang around the rankings like Allan Castro (still only 22???).

Yeah, Perales is projected to pitch this season. He's in the Bryan Mata position where injuries are going to force him either onto the BOS roster or into a trade after 2026.

Sandlin is interesting. I seem to see the starts where he throws a lot of pitches and looks very relieverish and miss his real quality starts where he goes late into games. He's got STUFF, but needs to harness it. Maybe he's figuring it out? IDK. He'll be in WOO in a few weeks most likely.
