Jordan

Monegro - TJS

Mullins

Paez

Sandlin

Three are protected and two are traded (maybe Monegro is left unprotected due to the TJS?). If any of the others are selected, it's not a big concern to me at this point.

I meant to put Paez in BOLD. I did put Hickey and Drohan in BOLD, but do not think they will be protected. I doubt Monegro is, either.

I don't see a big roster crunch, this winter, but maybe that is based on my hopes that we spend all our winter budget on 2-3 players and not 4-5 or 6.

Mullins is a close call, to me.

I know Bleis is kinda far away, but you don't see any chance we protect him?

I can see us trading Jordan & Monegro.

It's more likely they trade Bleis than protect him.

You think he'd be selected, if not protected?

We do have a pretty full OF, even 2 years from now, and Jh Garcia is in front of Bleis. (Cespedes and KC may end up in the OF, too.)

I could see Bleis included in a deadline trade.

I don't know. It depends on how he's playing down the stretch. If he's OPSing under 800, probably not.

Red Sox have been mocked to draft Irish of suburb and move him full time to the outfield! We have a lot of outfield talent on the roster and in the upper minors!!!!!

I cannot believe how many pitchers got hurt from our minor league teams this year thus far!!!
makes the performance of an uberstine stand out even more.

Criswell might be pitching his way out of any chance of playing in BOS, again.

Campbell is 0-2, so far, while Grissom is 3 for 3 w a dinger (.766,) Jh Garcia is 1-2 w BB (.931.) Thompson and Rosier homered, too.

Romero homered and went 2-4, today (.828.) Don't look now, but Castro is up to .810.

Taylor is 2-3, so far in GRE, but they are losing 11-1. ('boro over 'ville)

Musset had 2 hits in SAL's 3-1 win.

It's interesting how our graduated prospect list has had about two significant players each year since 2021:

2021: Houck (DD) and Whitlock (Bloom via Rule 5)

2022: Duran (DD) and Crawford (DD)

2023: Bello (DD) and Casas (DD)

2024: Rafaela (DD) and Slaten (Brez via trade/Rule 5)

2025: Narvaez (Brez via trade) and Campbell (Bloom)

It's strange that Brez & Bloom both have 2 names, but Anthony and Mayer are Bloom guys. (Dobbins & Arias, too.)

Hang’em Chaim is a beast at bringing in talented position players!!! But absolutely terrible with pitchers!!!
hang’em Chaim is why we have a huge hole at the number 2 and number 3 spots in our current rotation!!!

I can't disagree, and if the plan was to spend and trade for pitching, Bloom failed at that, too, mostly. He did get Whitlock via Rule 5, traded scraps for Pivetta and did sing Wacha, Strahm, Jansen and Martin, but the list of failures was 3-4 times longer.

I will add that we heard the same thing about DD's farm building, while he was trading away many of the higher ranked everyday players, but we ended up getting some value from the Houck's, Crawford's and Bello's of his underrated farm pitching staffs.

I kinda feel like guys like Dobbins may end up redeeming some of Bloom's legacy on pitching. Key word: "some." Others, like Early, Valera, Paez, Monegro, Guerrero, Mullins, Uberstine, Reyes and others will do what some of DD's hidden gems ended up doing.

Brez may end up getting more of the credit for "developing them."

IMO< we turned the corner on farm pitching. We've spent more on signing bonuses on drafted and IFA pitchers, since Brez took over. We drafted more pitching, and Brez has been trading for young pitchers, too. I'm not just talking about Crochet, either: he traded for Sandlin, Fitts, Weissert, Fajardo, Holobetz, Judice and J Bello. (I'm probably forgetting some, and he's just been here 2 years!_

Bres-slow’s main contribution to pitching appears to be getting pitchers to stop throwing 4 seam fastballs and instead throw breaking balls

That might be more on Bailey.

I see a major uptick in pitching being a high priority on the farm. I'm talking drafting them higher, drafting more of them, and paying them higher bonuses than we've seen our last few GMs do. Brez has given IFA pitchers more bonus money than we've seen in recent years. He's traded for pitching prospects and young pitchers, including older pitchers for younger ones, like Schreiber for Sandlin, Priester for Holebetz and Booser for Fajardo. He's trade a big package for Crochet, then extended him. He traded Verdugo for Fitts, Weissert and Judice. He traded Devers for 3 pitchers- 2 of then young.

Back to the draft: he drafted 12 pitchers in our first 16 picks in 2024, but almost more importantly, he gave a large percent of the bonus pool money to pitchers, including a few much higher slot money. Take a look at IFA bonus money. Our top pitcher bonuses were like $125M, and every now and then $200K or $300K. This year, we gave $500K to Delzine and $350K to Cordero, plus $100K to Montero.

We don't know, if all these kids will produce, but Brez has made a clear effort to effect a change for the good.

I do not see many position players moving, but I see a few pitchers moving up to the next level!
early and Tolle are most obvious

Maybe Romero or Ronald Rosario to AAA. I'm not sure they want to move Arias to AA, so soon & same with Bleis. Jo Garcia taking Rosario's catcher slot at AA might happen, later this year, but not soon.

Gonzales, Cespedes and Mussett may go to GRE, at some point.

I agree that more moves are likely with pitchers:

To AAA? Early, Sandlin or Mullins

To AA? Tolle, Rivera and maybe Holobetz

To GRE? Fajardo or Brooks?

D Reyes to SAL?

Justin Gonzales is only 18 years old so I think he stays at Salem all year!  I think they made a mistake by moving yophary to Greenville too soon!

I watched mussett last year and he looked lost at the plate!!  This year, he looks completely different!!!  But he still misses too many middle in pitches to deserve a promotion in my opinion. Best to let him figure this out at Salem !

Breslow is just hoarding pitching talent the way Bloom was hoarding hitting talent. It's why the pendulum is swinging the other way and the hitting is starting to look lighter.

Breslow Pitchers: Sandlin, Tolle, Clarke, Cason, Holobetz, Aita

Breslow Hitters: Tibbs, Yophery

Traded Montgomery OF, Meidroth IF, Teel C, Gonzelez P for Crochet P

Only drafted 6 hitters last season and the only decent one left in the system is Zach Ehrhard POR 721 OPS.

There may be some degree of truth to this, after all, I think we drafted 24 pitchers in 2024!
I do not know what bres-slow is planning for 2025’s draft, but I hear the Red Sox had a guy practically living at auburn this past year!!!!

for what it is worth, Salem and fort Myers are almost completely bereft of anything resembling a quality starting pitcher!!!!!

I hear Clarke is recovering from his blister and could make a start this week!!!

Brez also traded for Fitts, Weissert & Judice. He traded for Harrison & J Bello. He traded for Fajardo. He traded for Priester, then flipped him for the guy you mentioned, Holobetz. Eduardo Rivera was added as a MiFA

Others Brez added via draft or IFA: Valera, Wehunt, Delzine, D Reyes & others.
