He started off slowly, this year and dropped in SP's rankings, even as some above him were traded or graduated.

I've dropped him in my personal rankings based on his defensive home and lack of physical projection, not on what he did in April.

I've consistently ranked him higher than SPs and others on this site.

I just got the sense he was slipping in some people's minds. Not having a defined position hurts.

I'm not sure if it's "slipping" or if it's guys like Romero, Valera, Early and Clarke really improving their game and exceeding expectations. Also, starting pitchers are just going to have inherently more value than a low A 2b/3b like Cespedes.

Valera and early probably have the best stuff of our prospect pitchers that I have seen! Maybe early gets a June/July call up to Worcester. As a 19 year old, Valera probably stays in Greenville all year.

early looks completely different from last spring. Wow!!! What a difference the pitching program did for him this last offseason.

Yes, they "really improved" while Cespedes did not by as much. We also saw Teel, Monty and Meidroth traded, so that made room for 3 slots up, which he did not fill.

I do think the lack of a clear position hurts. If DH is his only reasonable position, then his value and ranking should drop.

Remember, SP's previous ranking was NOV 15th, and Cespedes was 10th. No games were played between then and April 3rd, where he moved to 9th. Essentially, he was passed by 2 players.

Yes, this does not mean he got worse, in the eyes of the evaluators, since others may have improved by more, but he did move from 6 to 7 to 10 during the 2024 season. He was 10th at the end of 2023.

I've been pretty high on him, for a while, but let's see how he handles AAA.

Woo certainly had room for him, even with Anthony staying put for a while longer.

Anthony walked twice today and Mayer walked 3 times today!  Are teams just going to stop pitching to them????

garcia had 2 more hits!

And in the end, the walks you take, aren't equal to the hits... you make.

Not sure why Jordan is not in Worcester yet!

I also wonder when freili incarnation goes to Greenville.

Encarnacion with 3 hits today in a Salem win.
arias with 4 hits and Anderson with 3 hits in a Greenville win.
Jordan with 2 hits in a Portland win.

Worcester rained out!

Arias is really looking like the full package, real deal (4 for 5.)

Anderson's 3 for 4 barely got him over .675.

Yuten went 3 for 4 w a dinger, but he's only at .611, now.

It took him 600 PA's to figure out AA pitching.
