I’ll go with my earlier response. I don’t really think he has a clue. He’s gone from bitch to FF, and some of the shirts he worn to interviews pretty much tells who he really is IMO. Runs angry, and lives angry.

It’s his brand, and he’s been through a lot of ups and downs and is huge advocate for mental health among other things. He’s a fan favorite and loved in the clubhouse. I think he’s a good dude who’s just emotional and made a dumb mistake.

 

I don’t even think he’s actually homophobic or anything, he’s probably using the word the way a lot of people do, to mean like “stupid”, which obviously is wrong and can’t be apart of an MLB players vocabulary.

Here's some from this forum: trade Duran this winter -- at the absolute height of his value -- for a MAJOR LEAGUE STARTING PITCHER.

Duran seems to spend a lot of time interacting with fans positively before and after games which is very rare. When I was in Cincy, he and Romy Gonzalez were the only ones to do so.

 

I’ve heard fans say some absolutely disgusting things to players. I heard Carl Crawford get called the N word. He ignored it. I also once heard Yu Chang in Baltimore last year get called an “Ohtani DEI hire” and though it was funny when he said “im from Taiwan dumb ass”.

 

Duran I think just needs some counseling or something of that nature and would be better off ignoring hecklers/annoying fans. Ans absolutely shouldn’t be using slurs to voice his frustration obviously.

Completely agree. Duran calling a fan a slur and Houck deciding not to get a vaccine are not comparable. Houck not getting vaccinated doesn’t make him “stupid” and the comparison doesn’t make any sense.

That's your opinion. To me, Houck's was maybe even more stupid, because he had time to dwell on his choice to stiff his teammates, and he did it anyway.

 

Both caused missed games. Both were brought on by the players, who knew the rules.

Red, I don't know what his problem is, but I just don't want to spend the time for all the back and forth. He will go on all day and night, then come back the next day and start up again. It never ends. This is not that important to me.
