Glad I missed the game. A successful road trip! We won a game!

Stiffs!

1-5 road trip yuck. I mean they shouldn’t even be this close to the playoffs if other teams were not playing like garbage.

The SOX FO is in serious discussions with the Dodgers regarding soon to be DFA'd James Paxton. Start saving for your SOX PO tickets.

When there's a DFA, the SOX FO circles him like a vulture.

Anyway, it won't cost the SOX much whether Paxton is good or bad and they do need a LH starter.

Meh again why not trade if he’s gonna be DFA?

If this team handled their business who knows how close they would have been now. Yankees and orioles struggling. A series loss to the rockies is embarrassing.

How embarassing for the Yankees it must be to only lead the Flops by four in the lost column-probably 3 by the end of the day.

So you really are saying it. You know more than Cora and that new pitching coach--Bailey. Thanks, but I'm going with their judgment.

You only come on talksox to gripe and never to root for the Sox.

Thanks for your kind words Max, but just think now you can add the Red Sox losing 2-3 to the lowly Rockies to your Red Sox struggling to get a split against the lowly White Sox, and your narrative on how much money the Red Sox are paying the Braves for Sale, and how much money Brez has blown on Gio, so keep up the good work. Once again thanks for all you do.

Red Sox have been so bad they could lose to this struggling Yankees team although they have been successful this year against them but the Red Sox are struggling right now.

How many times have we thought this, only to be surprised- to the good and bad?

Big mo can swing in a hurry in both directions with 1 swing of a bat. Masa hitting a HR against the Yankees, and Freeman hitting a HR against the Red Sox, so it could go either way this weekend.

I believe I'd heard that if a player is picked up after being DFA'd, the team, in this case the Dodgers, would have 5 days to request a trade for him.

That's what I thought I'd heard, so I may have misunderstood.

I think it works this way. The Dodgers have 7 days to work out a trade for him (which pretty much brings them right up to the July 30 deadline); he also can be put on waivers in that time frame. If no team claims him, he is released and can sign with anyone.

So if the Sox actually want him, a trade is the only way to assure that. Hard to say if he would survive a waiver claim until the Red Sox turn.

Paxton is likely going to be better than Bello has been, but I hope we can do better.

He has had a couple nice mini stretches, this year and a pretty long one, last year, so maybe...

2024:

4.37 FIP last 7 starts.

3 starts in a row: 1.00 ERA/3.08 FIP (June 11-24)

3 starts in a row 1.93 ERA/4.58 FIP (May 5-17)

First 4 starts of 2024: 2.61 ERA, but 5.80 FIP

2023:

First 13 starts: 3.34 ERA/3.58 FIP, including a 6 GS stretch of

1.75/2.31 (5/31- 6/30)

Why not let Chase Anderson finish? WTF is wrong with Cora? Why are is he using relied-upon bullpen arms in a 20-3 game?

Is he planning on using Anderson for lots of mop up work against New York?

Bernardino has been horrible for weeks. Seems to make sense to get him an inning in a blowout.

We really need one or two of these guys like him to step it up, in a big way. Even if we trade for 2 RP'ers or 1 RP and 1 SP (Pivetta to the pen,) we'll still need some step-ups.

Last 14 days OPS Against:

1.346 Bernardino

1.250 Horn

1.228 Jansen

1.101 Wink

.864 Pivetta

.863 Anderson

.859 Crawford

Our best in 2 weeks?

.077 Booser

.583 Kelly

.704 Weissert (Yes, you heard right)

.716 Houck

.744 Criswell

.769 Bello
