If we're grading on a game by game basis now, is the defense getting worse again?

Based on today's action, Breslow should trade them all and O'Neill too just because he is not playing in a HR park.

I agree that it sure looks like that today. The OF is usually pretty steady though.

Cora, who is supposedly negotiating a 3 year extension at @21.75 million ( ESPN), has the challenge of trying to hold this game close at 5-1 since the late inning Sox can sometimes hit their way out of trouble. BUT, he has little to go to in the pen who might put together 6 scoreless.

With a day off before the Yankees series, maybe worth a gamble if Pivetta gets a baserunner or 2 in the 3rd.

Or just concede that Quantrill is hot right now and will shut them down, let Pivetta take a bruising

I believe she was homeless. That was the rumor anyway.

From the video I saw, Wally was going to FL to visit his parents and she was living with them in the Green Monster at Jet Blue.

Pivetta was totally dominant in his last outing, and today he looks like he’s pitching batting practise.

He is the epitome of inconsistency .

Unlike the accommodations in the wall at Fenway, the wall at Jet Blue doesn't come with rats. Something about no pets allowed in the Jet Blue contract.

All the feral cats in FL are good at getting rid of the rats.

He is and always has been a bottom of the rotation starter. And probably always will be.

Coors is far and away Pivetta's worst place to play.

Career: 1333 OPS, 246 tOPS+, 17.18 ERA, 7.1 IP, 14 ER, 2.455 WHIP

He's just looking to add to that trend!

Pivetta woke up today and thought "what if I made these numbers even worse?"

I'm putting you down for "doesn't want to give him a QO this offseason."

Cora waits for Nick to get 2 on base becoming a 3 run HR before going to the pen. What was that point AC ? You needed to pull him at 2 on base

Hold on the QO until he gets out of Colorado

A few additions at the trade deadline is not going to help this team win in the playoffs if they were lucky enough to get in. I would not trade any significant asset for anything this year.

That's a supportable assessment, but it also means you need to sell anyone who is not part of 2025: Jansen, O'Neill (?), Pivetta, Refsnyder ( probably) and get some value back now.

I agree. There's just too many holes.

I seriously don't get this team. How you lose games to the White Sox and Rockies. Like these should be gimme games with easy W.

Sure you can lose one game. Not this many against crap teams. Win against the Phillies but then lose to the White Sox and Rockies. Like wtf

Like MVP posted, he has NEVER pitched well at Coors Field. He probably should never pitch there again. Seriously, skip him or bump him.

Years ago I read some book where it described Earl Weaver setting up his rotation weeks in advance. He’d look at stuff like how a guy fared against a certain team or in a certain park and figured out a way to avoid starting a guy accordingly.

After some unsuccessful starts at Fenway, Whitey Ford was never allowed to pitch there again, as ordered by Casey Stengal.
