Pivetta vs a RHP (finally) Quantrill

1. Duran LF

2. Abreu RF

3. Yoshida DH

4. Devers 3B

5. Smith 1B

6. Romy 2B

7. McGuire C

8. DHam SS

9. Rafaela CF

No red hot O'Neill, but going with the lefties makes some sense.

Only 6 Romy and 9 Rafaela bat RH'd.

Go SOX!

Hopefully, Abreu will have some good at bats, but taking a hot hitter out of the line-up, to me, makes no sense.

O'Neill in COL

vs LHP 5 - 6 (Blach, Beeks, Gomber)

vs RHP 0 - 4

If they put in a LH reliever, O'Neill will be back in there.

Abreu has been a platoon guy all season, and that how Cora does things.

I'd give you numbers on why it works, but wouldn't want to trigger you.

By now I think we have to agree that with Cora there is always method in his madness. We do know that the Sox best defensive outfield does not include Ref or O'Neill and does include the three who are starting today. We also know that Duran and Abreu hit righties better than O'Neill or Ref.

Well, against RH's his platoon system has been very successful, so no reason to change. I should have realized that before I made the O'Neill post.

I agree, except for the fact that O'Neill is an excellent defensive outfielder.

Those would be regular old numbers, so they are pretty much known, and have been for years. RHP vs RHB, and LHP vs LHB batter stats are nothing new, and useful.

I think O'Neill is ok in the OF. He has 3 DRS and doesn't seem to embarrass himself. Can play either LF or RF adequately. He's been a massive plus in the OF over his career.

Refsnyder is just getting worse and worse as time moves on. He's a -4 DRS and really doesn't inspire any confidence in me. Really a LF only guy at this point. I know they tried him at 1b in ST, but it must have been a massive failure because they abandoned that quickly.

The SOX actually have a better road record than the Phils. The big difference is that the Phils are playing .700 at home.

Phillies Phanatic has a 4 wheeler. Wally does not have a 4 wheeler. If the Sox want to really be serious about winning at home, they need to get Wally a 4 wheeler.

This is true, plus the Phanatic seems to get more TV time than Wally. Probably because of the 4-wheeler.

Let's do a 'fund me' for Wally.

Wally gets lowballed by Henry, like just about everyone.

Wally is the nice guys finish last of mascots. He needs to start hanging around with some bad boys like Slugger.

He needed his sister to move in just to help pay the bills! Pretty despicable if you ask me!

Pivetta made every mistake he could in the first: Leadoff HR allowed; 38 pitches( bullpen burner) , allows 2 out 2 strike , 2 run double. He is the example of inconsistency

Great start by Pivetta. Just awesome.

Coors is far and away Pivetta's worst place to play.

Career: 1333 OPS, 246 tOPS+, 17.18 ERA, 7.1 IP, 14 ER, 2.455 WHIP

He's just looking to add to that trend!

The 2 guys in the Rockies' booth are arguing why O'Neili isn't in the line-up. One says it's because the SOX always platoon; the other guy says you should always keep the hot guy in the line-up. I thought they were going to come to blows.

Wally needs some street cred. But I thought it was a manly thing to do to allow his homeless sister to move in with him.

Btw, is the sister's name Walleen?

If someone told you on March 31 that the starting infield for Boston today would be Dom Smith, Jamie Westbrook, David Hamilton and Romy Gonzalez, would you have assumed it was actually the WooSox or would you know that Story, Grissom, Casas were long term injured ?

Probably should have blown each other. Only way to get ratings with that team.

Pivetta is not enough of a punching bag today, but his outfield is determined to further sink him.

The RAF Man is a good CF, but he is NO JBJ out there.
