The Yankees made a serious effort to improve their team. And it shows. The Sox have not made a serious effort to improve their team. And it shows.

This is easy to explain, even for John Henry: The Yankees are the most profitable team in baseball, so they can afford all the great players. The Red Sox are only third-most profitable, behind NY and LA...

... so Boston is only richer than 27 other clubs -- and even worse, only has a 1 in 30 chance to ever recruit and sign actual good ballplayers who aren't rehabbing, injury-prone or doomed by a higher power to career-risking malfunctions while performing athletic exercises like throwing or diving for a ball, swinging a bat, riding stationary bikes or walking down dugout steps.

Aren't you forgetting...

The Yankees SUCK!

As well as every other pitcher the Yankees brought in

Just about.

I mentioned Gil only because he was in competition with Houck for top SP'er in 2024.

Problem with the Yankees is that they have nothing of value to trade at the deadline. Spencer Jones is a bust at AA and their other prospects stink. They need bullpen help, they need another starter. I guess they don't need to add anyone to the offense, but they do have a few holes and no easy way to fix them. They also need guys like Stanton and Judge to stay healthy but that usually doesn't happen. Want to trade for a 1b? OK, but who are you trading? When your prospects suck, you can't add high end talent at the trade deadline.

Dominguez is the Yankees best trade chip and they probably should trade him while he is at his peak in terms of value, but Cashman will probably hold on to him. I guess Gil would bring back a nice return, but Cashman is unlikely to move him.

Some Yankee fans insisted their farm was better than ours!

Similar theme with the Yanks MLB squad, injuries are piling up in the minors. 3 of the Yankees top 5 prospects are on the shelf (Dominguez, Hampton, Pereira) and they would all be call up options right now. Ben Rice has come in to play first base and has looked promising. Caleb Durbin could have been called up to fill in one of the underperforming infield spots but he got hurt. Same with Beeter in the bullpen.

The Yanks probably don't have the ammo to trade for a top pitcher or bat unless they're willing to deal Dominguez (which I doubt they'd do). But they do have a lot of talent in the lower minors that they could probably use to get bullpen help and a competent bat at a corner infield spot. That should be the minimum they need to get by (assuming Judge/ Soto/ Cole all stay healthy, which is not a given).

There was talk the Yankees could be interested in V.Guerrero, who could play 1b for the Yankees and give them another major piece in the lineup. The Yankees have no way to acquire Guerrero unless they decide to package Gil and Dominguez together. No one wants Spencer Jones, he is a 23 year old in Double A and has over 100 Ks with around 250 ABs. Not only are the Red Sox top 3 prospects better than Spencer Jones, but Campbell is way better, not even close. Blaze Jordan might even be a better prospect than Spencer Jones at this point but I don't know.....I don't know how to evaluate Blaze Jordan right now.

Still too early to say Jones won't pan out. Judge had similar problems every time he advanced a level in the minors. Jones did have a 2 HR and 7 RBI night a couple of days ago, so we'll see if he's starting to figure out this level.

More drivel from FsB. Yanks ranked in the top 10 in farm systems, sox in the back 10. Yanks entire pitching staff went into a slump at the same time prompting the s***** performance of late. It’ll correct eventually. This team is good. They found at least a short term answer at 1b in Rice. Kid looks like a good ball player. Torres is starting to swing it. With Stanton on the shelf, we’ve got Grisham in there every day and he isn’t an everyday player. DJ is done, his bat speed is gone and he’s got no more leg drive. He centered a ball last night in the 8th and flew out to the warning track. Yanks need a lefty reliever who doesn’t suck, another high leverage reliever to pair with Holmes if the lefty is more specialist and a 3b who can rake.

Who has ranked the Sox in the back 10?

They need to get Volope out of the leadoff spot, he is hurting them with his 96 OPS+.

Verdugo: 93 OPS+. Catcher is a black hole in the lineup. I guess they will make the playoffs, but this is not a championship team and the Yankees don't have the depth in the farm system to add a difference maker at the deadline.

Soto and Judge are obviously great. Speaking of Soto, I keep hearing that the Mets are going to pass on Alonso and make Soto a massive offer. When the Yankees lose Soto to the Mets, their offense will take a major hit next year but I guess that is a conversation for the off-season. Also, Judge will be 33 next year, the window is closing on the Yankees especially since the Orioles and Red Sox are loaded with young talent and will only get better over the next few seasons.

Rice is a big kid. Yankees may have made a nice under the radar score with him.

They seem to find more pitchers that way, too…

Yankees are the greatest team in the history of two months ago. Every May, they're going to the World Series.

In their last three Mays, the Yanks won over two-thirds of their games, with a record of 59 and 26.

In their last three Julys, New York is 24-33... so far.

Let's remember this next year too so we can make money betting against them

Betting against both teams to not with the WS in each year is the way to go, honestly.

I don't think you get very good odds betting against a team winning the WS

I'll take whatever I can get. The rest of my family plays crane machines like their lives depend on it.

Crane machines LOL...those things are low-tech one-armed bandits.

The Yankees need to make some changes. They need to bring in a new starting SS and I got the perfect guy: Jeter Downs from Scranton! Volope is sent to AAA to work on his hitting and baserunning. He needs to improve on the fundamentals so that he scores from third base when there isn't a force play. Volope doesn't seem that smart to me. In Scranton, I would also make him enroll in a community college literature class, try to improve his overall IQ. in the meantime, how can the Yankees go wrong with a starting SS with the name of Jeter? This is a great plan. Edited by Fan_since_Boggs
