5TH consecutive opening day HR. A record.

Also, Tyler is an excellent defensive outfielder. One of those no big deal offseason pickups that may become a big deal.

So does Cora go to Kenley for the last 3 outs ? I think Kenley is on the career downslope and while mostly effective, not dominant.

We aren't quite there yet (It's still early). But, staying within the goal lines. 12 outs to a great night .

Well if they follow my goals this will be a great season. They pretty much hit them all with only minor slips ( Joely Rodriguez)

Remember, if you do not win the first one, you cannot win them all. So I'm saying there is a chance at 162-0.

Being more realistic, the SOX are only 99 wins away from 100. I mean that is more realistic than 162-0.

Nice to see a great performance on Opening Day for the first time in ages. I’ve been quite sick with Covid this week so it was quite nice to wake up to that this morning!

So happy baseball is back. Great to be back with all of you as well

Observations:

Sox were very aggressive on the basepaths which is what this type of team needs.

Bello was ok, but a more patient team would have had more runners on.

Joely may pitch himself out of a job early.

speaking of Joely... the man on base, left by Campbell goes in the books as an earned run against him (Campbell). i've always thought this was ********. he didn't allow the man to score, Joely did. IMHO, scoring on the men LOB should be credited as a half of an earned run with half going to the pitcher who allowed the baserunner and half going to the pitcher that allowed him to score. IOW, Campbell gets .5 ER for that inning and Joely gets 1.5. i know this is pretty minor stuff but Joely gave up the meatball, not Campbell.

It's part of the reason that ERA isn't a great indicator of how a pitcher performs.

From Gabrielle Starr:

Alex Cora got a loud chuckle when he explained why it's Tyler O'Neill over Wilyer Abreu in RF tonight:

“I got a five-game losing streak on Opening Day, and he has a four-game home-run streak (on Opening Days) so, analytics.”
