How this story got leaked does amaze me. Unless Pedroia was the original leak. But even then, the quotes from Kennedy fell along the lines of “Pedroia told us who the free agents were,” which is really odd considering I don’t think anyone truly believed that the Sox were unaware…

He probably knew they were looking at Lorenzen and Lauer, and wanted to remind them, better players were still out there.

I think they have decided they want to make more money. Maybe they are waiting for the big 3 prospects to arrive, and then will make up for skimping, but I have my doubts.

Not saying he made it all up. But as I get older and older, I have become increasingly skeptical and cynical about almost everything. I don't think too many things are entirely on the level or that people always tell the truth. And my trust in Sox management is not very high right now.
