Is Mayer still hurt?

Sounds more like caution than anything else, he has a minor hip thing but he will probably start tomorrow.

Posted
WOO lineup tonight:

Anthony CF

Meidroth SS

Casas 1B

Grissom 2B

Teel C

Dalbec 3B

Alvarez RF

McGuire DH

McDonough LF

Drohan SP

Fans getting their moneys worth.

Mayer at SS and Meidroth at 3B would be even better.

Mayer still out with the hip. Return of Drohan should be interesting to follow.

Casas & Grissom homered for Woo, as Anthony went 3-4.

Drohan walked 4 in 3.2, but let up just 1 run.

The big 3 are no longer w POR, but Campbell went 1-2 w 2BB in the win.

Ehhard went 3-4 to lead POR to a second win. Early did okay.

The DSL Blue team had 13BB and 13Hits in a big win.

DSL Blue actually played a doubleheader yesterday.

They won the other game 12-4.

It's interesting because the Sox just took the two best players off of Blue and added them to the first place DSL Red team to help their playoff chances. DSL Red lost 3 - 6 yesterday.

Really like Garcia’s swing. This is the level to find out if he can hit off speed and breaking balls. It took Roman a while to figure it out. Three teams in one year is amazing regardless! Is Garcia the most overlooked player in our system this year?????

The next two levels are a big test for Jhostynxon. We'll see if his bat can keep going. Kiley McDaniel has him in the Top 150. SoxProspects still see him outside their own top 15 and have questions about the bat. Lots of variance on him. I like him a lot, but I'm not strapping a rocket to him yet. Need to see him hit at AA.

Monegro has really gone on a nice run after struggling at the start of the season. Looks like he's a definite add for the Rule 5 draft.

Zanetello has a 42% k rate. Anyone completely out on him yet? Give him another year before calling it?

They knew he had a long way to go with the hit tool. He was one of the people who really got hosed by MLB contracting the Lowell/short season tier. I'm still in just wait and see mode.

We've seen a few of our pitchers doing very well, of late.

Most are still long shots or far away, but the number of promising or semi-promising pitchers seems to be growing.

Casas should be called up. I think he has to the 20th, but WTH? He went 2-3 with a 2B. Meidroth continues to impress at the AAA level by going 1-2 w a BB (.834.)

POR won 5-3 with Bolden going 4IP w 2H, 0ER, 2BB 7 5Ks

Hickey went 2-3 w two 2Bs, after the demotion. Jh Garcia went 2-5 and Campbell 1-5.

GRE won a tight one. Dean went 4 IP allowing just 1H, 1BB, while K'ing 7 (oER.) Ehrhard went 2-4 (.825.)

SAL won 6-4 w Arias going 3-5. Yuten 2-4.

Doesn’t Garcia lead all our minor leagues in taters???

I think he has been very consistent against fastballs! Now we see how he adjusts to off speed and breaking balls

I think the ball is in Casas' court right now. Cora said it's a pain tolerance thing. Casas said he's struggling in at bats after he fouls off pitches. I think the Sox would love to have him up, but they are waiting on him.

@alexspeier

Casas said his greatest difficulty is during at-bats after foul balls. Since 8/4, he’s 2-for-12 with 6 Ks in at-bats in which he fouls off a pitch.

@alexspeier

What does Triston Casas want in order to say he’s major league-ready? To be “pain-free” - but he knows he might not get there by the time he’s activated

It has been a long time, and when you couple this with the fact that our recent graduated pitching prospect list is also better than it's been in a long time, maybe we should be more hopeful than it appears we are, right now while watching our staff implode over the last month.

2021: Houck & Whitlock

2022: Bello, Crawford & Wink

2023: Kelly, Bernardino & Murphy

2024: Slaten & Booser

Maybe 2025: Fitts, Guerrero, Penrod & Shugart

Big drop off from '21-'22 and '23-'24, but not a bad list, compared to any other 4 year stretch since the Lester-Buch days.

If he's in a lot of pain, I'm thinking shutting him down for a couple months and having him play winter ball might be the best plan.

Guillorme is available for everyone who wants a .500 OPS defensive SS.

Granted, Luis has very little experience at SS, and might lack the range. But he has good hands and can make plays…

I forgot we even traded Kavadas.

Let's see how he does in the bigs.

Really great opportunity for him that he wasn't going to get here.

Think of how many guys like him never get to sniff the bigs.

I hope the Domer does well.

Another gem with GRE in a 1-0 win.

Wehunt 5 no hit innings (1BB and 6K)
