BTV rated:

5.7 O'Neill

for

1.6 Nick Robertson

0.4 Victor Santos

In other words, BTV thinks TO is worth $11.2M - $5.5 salary= 5.7 value.

That 11.2 placed him at #19 in Sox skill + yrs value (below Jansen and above Bernardino & Martin.)

Sox acquire Tyler O'Neill!

RH'd bat, but he plays LF.

He has played RF and CF. Not extensively, and no RF since 2019. But given that he’s played with some talented defenders this might not indicate anything

MLBTR reports O'Neill had a run-in with his manager about a "lack of hustle."

Sound familiar?

this guy is a bigger cancer than Bauer or Stroman. i can tell you with 99% certainty he was on the juice earlier and that is likely what contributed to his recent string of injuries.Absolute HORRIFIC pick up for the Sox.

We haven't lost anything of great value, and some of the guys we've added have real promise or have done some damage in the recent past, but yes, it is still early.

On what's he's done, so far, it looks like a C to me.

clear loss on the first group and the other "may" be of some help in about 2026

Almost everybody in a MLB player (O'Neill, Campbell, Weissert), MLB ready (Slaten is Rule 5) or near MLB ready (Fitts turns 24, soon and was in AA, last year.)

Maybe Judice is 2026.

O’Neil has had an odd trajectory. I am not understanding the move if he can’t play RF.

Agreed, but maybe he can.

It's not like Duvall was great in CF/RF.

I'm wondering, too.

The Seattle Mariners reportedly checked in on Tyler O'Neill, their one-time Top 50 prospect, but apparently dodged the bullet.

O'Neill can hang out with fellow British Columbian Nick Pivetta.

all players are tested for PEDs yearly. did they miss this guy somehow? from wikipedia: Testing is administered via scientifically-validated urine test. Each Player shall be tested upon reporting to spring training. All Players will be selected for an additional unannounced urine specimen collection during the season on a randomly selected date

I said he was on the juice EARLIER. dont you find it at least a bit suspicious that he has had so injuries the past few years?

The picture of him moon posted is very suspicious, very suspicious indeed.

Only good thing is we're only expected to be paying him $5.5 mill or something like that, so he's disposable, like a used syringe.

He tested positive “earlier?”

A picture says a thousand words.

The foto does raise concerns, but hard working athletes can look like that without roids.

When a ballplayer looks like a bodybuilder, veins popping and the whole deal, it definitely raises concerns.

Plus Randy is right that roiders tend to become very injury-prone.

listen this is going to be my last post on this topic. I knew the O'Neill family from when he played his minor ball in Ridge Meadows Minor baseball. It was well known that the Dad used steroids and always highly suspected that the kid was as well. I will also dd tht the Dad was a pain in the ass parent and the kid was a pain to coach. His youth coach in Ridge Meadows has passed or I am sure he could verify that.

I have no real proof because once he left the area i did not follow him but that picture should raise the flags. Like Bellhorn said { great quote BTW} it is only for 1 year and we can toss him away like a used syringe just like the Cardinals did. I am willing to bet anyone on here that he will NOT be with the Red Sox in 2025. Shame on Craig Breslow for this trade. Go get Bauer and Stroman now.

You have your opinion, and I have concerns, too, but do know, minor leaguers are tested, too.

O'Neill has been in MLB for 6 years and the minors for 5 before that. I google O'Neill and steroids and get no hits.

I don't think O'Neill staying or not staying beyond 2024 will prove anything, either.

He gave up nothing for a one year rental. It’s not a big deal.
