The BP will have to go another 6.1 innings today. No problem.

We need to trade jansen and martin and have 8 long relief guys, next year.

These one and done guys are killing us!

Maybe just go with13 starters next year, and even that won’t be enough with starters like these.

Nahhhhh, Bloom will trade them for 6 minor leaguers, none that are even AAA ready and be pleased with himself.

You have a point, but it wasn't really about saving them as it was about hardly any were available, due to prior overuse.

Like I always say take care of today first, because tomorrow might not never come, and unless the Red Sox make a big comeback it won’t. Now Whit is pitching mop up.

Thankfully just a walk. By rights Alvarez should have hit one to the moon....likely would have if Witt grooved one.

I said it before the deadline. Sell everything. They should also have fired half of the front office and the cheater manager.

Only half the front office?

Dave Bush is bushed dealing with this bush pitching staff.

You mean the pitching coach who did not teach Brasier a cutter to salvage his career , like the Dodgers did ?

The good news after this latest debacle is that we do have a day off tomorrow. The boys just decided to sneak it in a little early.

But the real good news is that Moon will be able to start " A Realistic View of 2024, Part 1" on Sept 1st. Why wait ?

hard to imagine how ugly this ineptitude could become in September + Oct 1. Out of 28 games, 18 are against teams with better records and of the other 10, 4 are vs Yankees. I know, i Know.... a sweep of the KC Royals can relight the fires of the Titanic here and plug all the holes on the mound, defense and somnolent bats. Hope springs eternal, but only in Feb/March

Bush needs to be the first one fired. I can’t think of anyone who has actually improved under his 4 year tutelage. Quite frankly, in looking at his background, I’m not sure why he was qualified to be a major league pitching coach in the first place.

What we need is an error by the Sox so we can once again blame the loss on lousy defense. That’s baloney of course. The are struggling because of hitting and pitching.

The headline for last nights game was the defense blew it, which ignored the fact that the Astros had two errors to our one and the 6-2 score.

So to rehash the unimportance of defense you're saying it's just as easy for a pitcher to get 4 outs in an inning as 3 outs. And the additional pitch count means nothing. Got it. Can't argue with that.

At least we can now dispense with the delusion that the Red Sox can still make the playoffs, and just try to enjoy seeing a rookie like Ceddanne try to stake his claim to make next years team.

We can discuss this over the next 11 years.

My guess is that Rafi will be pawned off within 5 years, with the Sox paying about 50% of his contract.

I knew the 38 year old Turner would help the SOX offensively. What I didn't know was that he would be the SOX best hitter. Hopefully, he returns next season.

He may see the logjam of young guys now on this team including Duran, Cedanne, Abreu, Verdugo, Casas plus Yoshida under contract for 4 more, and figure his own opportunities to cash in now are much better for a 2 year deal. I doubt Bloom offers him a bigger 2 year deal. Yankees might , if Cashman survives.

Bloom is burdened with some guys who are best at DH, including Duvall who will be FA this winter. You could argue that Devers, Turner, Casas, Yoshida should be DH's in some league.

What do you know, th boys of late summer come alive and are only a Grannie away from rescuing victory from the terrible jaws of defeat. Once again pitching, not defense dug the hole they remain in pending 9 outs.
