He was a good acquisition. Guy was a 2 fWAR player last few years and was hurt early this season. His ceiling was higher than any 2b on the current 40 man. He was moved for a guy potentially taken in the next Rule 5 draft, but still in A ball.

 

I don’t think it was a move to fix the problems of this year.

 

Not that he can't also help in '23.

 

This guy is good. This is not a fluke. He's not some DFA grab like Arroyo.

As a batter, I don't appreciate pitcher-speak. I'm not hiding behind the catcher and umpire -- I'm standing right in front of them... so don't tell me I'm "ambushing" anything.

 

And my bat doesn't "run into" any pitch... maybe your pitch can miss my bat. Then I'll say that was a nice piece of pitching.

Wong makes a great play for a DP. What a difference good defense makes. It shortens games and lengthens pitchers.

 

I also think those kinds of plays can jack up a team in other ways.

As noted multiple times earlier in the season, when the bottom 4 contribute to the offense, this team can win a lot of 8-9 run games , even with average pitching.

More importantly, Kutter has not yet qualified for a quality start . He needs to get 3 more outs and not give up more than 3 runs. I'd say he has a great chance to get it done

Kutter is only at 62 pitches through 5. If he gets the 6th done with no more than 80, I'd say he will start the 7th and see what happens. The 8th could be a reach, but just focus on getting the one you are pitching to now out.
