Just watch the next 10 games' outcomes to see if there is any oxygen remaining in the clubhouse.

If the Sox can go 7-3 or better, there's a chance . 6-4 or worse and the poor planning from January 1 onward through the deadline will be confirmed.

Yeah, if they can't beat up on the Royals/Tigers/Nats, they are going to get smoked when they have to play HOU/LAD/HOU at the end of the month.

The schedule after the Nats series ends on 8/17:

9 series against Wild Card or better teams

3 series against teams out of the playoff picture (NYY, CWS, KC)

@tylermilliken_

Red Sox pulling out all the stops tonight with the City Connect uniforms.

21-4 record all-time while wearing them.

Badly need another one of those wins tonight.

Should have done this during the Jays series?

Well they pushed Bello back a day to face the Royals, so they’d better win this one.

And risk their City Connect Uni record?!!? Are you mad??!

When the color of your external underwear determines your outcomes then you are hunting unicorns. But baseball players are highly superstitious , so City Connect it is. When the Sox win tonight, who will be first to attribute it to the uni ?

I don't see Kike wearing those damnable yellow shoes (now Reyes does) while playing for Dodgers. Correlation or causation? He still makes errors though.

Sox DFA Bleier, called up Dinelson Lamet (ERA over 11 this year in Colorado) and it sounds like story is back tomorrow and Sale is back Friday.

Always a good idea to have team meetings, manager pep talks or wear the good luck uniforms before a series against one of the worst teams in MLB. Makes it look like it worked.

Whitlock is also expected back by Sunday.

They get rid of one bad pitcher and bring up another bad one.

I don't know this as a fact, but I wouldn't be surprised if the SOX have DFA'd more relief pitchers over the last 2 seasons than any other MLB team.

Story's story is that he is taking one for the team by returning a day or two early, but don't expect too much and i'll need a few easy days off to check my body's reaction to actually having to work for a living, several million per at that.

Based on the number of relievers that Boston has DFA'd, most of them should room at the Y.

That turnover of nobodies is as much and indictment of Bloom's & staff's ability to recognize any talent. They basically are playing bullpen roulette , a losing proposition at the backend of the 'pen.

The amount of random dudes who pitch 1-2 games and we never see again is insane.

One caution about the August returnees is Tanner Houck. I would not expect any great results from him as he regains his confidence on the mound. Head injuries are strange incidents aside from the physical pain and lingering effects of concussive events. If Tanner can regain his effectiveness for 18 outs, it will be a win for him and the Red Sox , but no expectations .

All part of building organizational depth with guys who will unlikely pitch again anywhere, right??

Watching youtube earlier and discovered that Teddy Ballgame in 1949 reached base by base hit or walk in 84 straight games, which is a record that is rarely brought up. In 1941 Teddy reached base by base hit or walk in 73 straight games, which is the 2nd longest streak. William's lifetime OBP was .482.

Btw, the longest on base streak by base hit or walk since 1949 is 63 games, which was accomplished by ex-SOX Orlando Cabrera in 2006.

DiMaggio's hitting streak and many other honored achievements do not hold up to William's numbers, but Joe D had the NY and national press on his side and Ted flipped them off. I like Ted

Ted's the reason I became a SOX fan.

The baseball books I've read pretty much paint Joe D as an *******. One of his rules was that for him to agree to show up at a Yankems' old timer's day, he would need to be paid $10,000 and he would have to be announced last. Ted may have not been a great family man, but as a human being he was heads and shoulders over DiMaggio.
