They could keep 'em all by demoting Urias to Woo.

All the others need to be DFA'd.

But they still have to DFA someone to get Story back on the 40 man roster..

Yes, but it does not have to be a MI'er.

We'll need another DFA for Sale coming off the 60, too.

The current average in OPS in MLB in 2023 is .733, so Duvalls .728 in the last 27 games is sadly below average.

Play Duran full time in CF…

Last Sox player with a walkoff grand slam?

I’m thinking Franchy Cordero

Franchy definitely did it last year. Before that I remember Xander doing it I believe.

.752 last 12 games

.816 last 19 games

.728 last 27 games

There are worse hitters in these selected time frames.

11-48 in Duvalls last 15 games with 17 K’s, 2 HR, and 4 RBI. Cora thinks he has to keep playing all 5 OF, and I don’t believe he does. I don’t think it doing Duvall, Dugy, or Duran any good to be in, and out of the lineup. Pick 2 of the 3, and stick with them.

I was making a lame attempt at humor. It was a carbon copy of Fisk's walk-off in the '75 WS. Btw, the term 'walk-off' is credited to ECK.

And I know you know this, but Eck was talking about the pitcher who gave up the winning run sadly walking off the mound.

So the whole "walk-off" thing got monumentally misunderstood, but of course no one cares LOL

Verdugo had an OPS of .478 in July, so he should have been just DFAd, I guess.

The thing is, major league hitters go into short-term slumps all the time, and if you bury them when they're slumping, they'll never come out of it.

Dugo hasn’t been the same since he got taken out of the leadoff spot either. All I’m saying is none of the 3 have been exactly killing it with the bat lately, and I don’t think being in, and out of the lineup helps.

So what's the solution-pick 3 guys to be in the lineup every day and bury the other 2?

The whole team is in somewhat of a slump, as you've noted.

The solution is to keep complaining.

Wow! 1 gift win(?), and people are all giddy today. Which way is the wind blowing today?

Yes the whole team is in a slump, so obviously the way it’s being done now is working so well. Bury the other 2? That’s one way to look at it, but so is playing what you think is the best 3. It shouldn’t be so complicated, but Cora has made it that way.

So in your scenario, Refsnyder wouldn't play at all anymore, even against lefties - do I have that right?

I never even mentioned Ref, and in some of my other post I said the Red Sox had 4+ OF. No one said Ref shouldn’t play at all, but I don’t think he needs to play every time. If Dugy, and Duvall are going well they would stay in the lineup. Dugy wasn’t getting benched until Duvall came back. I was talking more about the constant rotation against RHP. Like I said things aren’t working out so well now with the OF especially Duvall, and Dugy.

Who is giddy? Who is saying that they are turning a corner and the season is looking better? They are playing the f***ing Royals. If they don't go 7-3 in this stretch, it's a disaster.

He has a 907 OPS against LHP. He needs to be playing somewhere every time a lefty is starting. If he's starting, at least one of the following has to sit: Yoshida, Duran, Verdugo, Turner, Duvall.

It's loser baseball to play a guy with a worse bat against left handed pitching just for shits and giggles. I guess some people are just playing for the future rather than trying to win now? Duran isn't a better defender than Refsnyder either.

Wow! Getting riled and F’n. I didn’t think I was complaining either, but just raising a question. If you criticize it’s bashing, or hating. From one extreme to the other.

I was talking more about the RHP situation, but you have to stick the loser reference in there. Loser to me is saying why bother to add anything since the team ain’t good enough anyway, so why even bother to watch?

So, don't play one of MLB's best hitters in the last 2 years vs LHPs, in Refsnyder, so we can a tidy and neat OF alignment to suit fans like you who don't even watch the game?

2023 splits

vs RHPs

.850 Yoshida

.815/.829 Verdugo

.779/.882 Duran

.756/.863 Duvall

.613/.501 Ref

v LHPs

.829 Yoshida

.768/.907 Ref

763/.643 Duvall

.673/.637 Verdugo

558/.731 Duran

.

He’s not going to get better vs LHP by sitting on the bench watching Refsnyder hit them…

Maybe sit Dugo v LHPs. We know he won't get any better vs them. He's had years to try.

Moon, your facts are ruining my sarcasm. I may have to have you suspended from the forum.
