Cora will go before Bloom. For all we know, Bloom is doing what Henry wants. Cora isn’t doing anything anyone wants…

I am genuinely worried that this may be a true statement.

I keep saying it but henry has a lot to do with this. Fans need to stay away from the ball park and not support his crappy product.

Henry did explicitly say that he wanted to reduce payroll. No one in the organization knows how to do that without also reducing quality. And this is the result.

I agree. People need to pick at least one game and just stay home.

Our team ERA is 23rd in MLB. Pitching is absolutely a problem.

Most of that was a disastrous April. May and June have been a substantial improvement. Taking Kluber out of the rotation was a big reason…

Are you comforted if I tell you that it’s really just a moderately supported theory?

They all count. Including tonight where they have already surrendered four runs.

The pitching might not be the worst of the problems but it IS a problem when you rank 23rd of the 30 teams.

They know they can trade prospects for the here and now, but I think that is not part of "the plan," either.

I'm not so sure Bloom is hoarding prospects on his own. It's an organizational choice, IMO.

No prospects were traded before or during 2019, either.

4.5 years highest prospects trade?

Aldo Ramirez (9th on SPs) for Schwarber

Jason Groome (NR when traded/6th in Spring '21) for Ferguson, Rosier and Hosmer

Michael Chavis (NR when traded) for Austin Davis

Other prospects were traded for prospects:

22 Seabold for PTBNL

25 German for Denlinger

(I'm probably missing some other minor ones.)

Proof this plan is not about the here and now.

Cora's not irreplaceable. In fact, I'd like to see V-TEK get a shot.

Everyone is just a placeholder for Pedroia. Pedey will be the Sox manager some day. As soon as his wife lets him leave the house.

"Proof this plan is not about the here and now." This is pretty close to what Harry Frazee said in 1920 when he sold Babe Ruth.

Probably a wise decision since this is a last place team this year. I just don’t think Bloom is particularly good at what he does. I knew this year would be a stinky one. I just don’t see a plan that will make us relevant next year.

Likely going to be at least 10 years for that to happen. His kids are 13, 10 and 8 (might be a year off here) and he has said he wants to be around while they grow up. He’s financially secure, so there’s no reason he can’t be. He doesn’t need to spend 6 months away from home.

Can this team do anything right? If it’s not bad hitting or fielding or pitching, it’s stupid base running

To be fair to Verdugo, it’s the job of the on-deck hitter to signal if he needs to slide. I didn’t see, but did Devers signal for him to get down?

I wonder if Dugo get's benched for not sliding?

Normally the on-deck hitter signals the runner to stay up or slide. Raffy was nowhere to be seen.

When in doubt, slide, but Raffy needs to do his job as well.
