Hopefully, Casas has turned a corner tonight.

Hey, 700, have you noticed how many times the adverb 'hopefully' is employed on these game threads? I know it's the adverb I've used more than any other.

Calling all Clowns wanting Brasier DFA'd... errr....

I am proud of Brasier for getting two outs without giving up 5 runs. What a clutch performance

Might as well get the Brooms out, and sweep the aBlue Jays out of town. Boy when things are going good like right now, and the Jays are looking like the Red Sox did last year with errors galore, balls being misplayed in the OF. The scary part for the rest of the league should be that this current winning fortune has come with not much help from Raffy at the bat, and the offense will be that much scarier when he starts hitting again.

The last few years, the Jays have been a fairly sloppy team from what I remember. I don't know if it's coaching or the players themselves. Maybe the young guys are just high on their own supply, but until they actually win something, TOR is just a bunch of also rans. They keep winning offseasons and adding young talent, but end up in the middle of the pack. HOW? Is it just the names on the back of the jerseys that people like?

So you've never stayed at a Holiday Inn?

Up to date SOX offensive stats:

Runs-176-ranks 3rd in MLB

HR's-44-ranks 5th

On Base %-.338-ranks 6th

Slugging %-.458-ranks 2nd

I don't know what was going on with last year's team. Maybe it was all the expiring contracts? Those guys just refused to hit. 2022 was like a funeral for a certain era of the franchise.

This group has had a good vibe to them all season. I'm glad they've turned the page.

Definitely a better product to watch, and winning more than losing helps too. Makes it easier to listen to the Yuckers in the booth too.

Sox are still in 4th place, but now have the 9th best record in baseball.

They would be

1st in the AL central

2nd in the AL West 1 game out of 1st.

2nd in the NL East

3rd in the NL Central 1 game out from 2nd

2nd in the NL West 1 game out of 1st

As of today we are in the playoffs.

Damm!being in the toughest Div in baseball thing again. The Red Sox have been in the same Div since Divisions came into baseball. When they have been good they have been good, and when they have been bad they have been bad. I don’t care what place they end up in as long as they make the postseason.

it was a good spot for him, a swing of the bat wouldn't beat us, Brasier safety net, fireman of the year

When you look at the records of the teams we have played, being 18-14 looks a lot better than if we were 18-14 vs mostly losing teams.

I'm not sure why some feel it doesn't matter much.

Yes, we still need to beat the bad teams we will be playing more of than other teams, going forward, but I'd rather be 18-14 with an easier schedule ahead than a tougher one, and this might make all the difference in the world in a tight wild card race in Spetember.

Agree, but to me the giant message for this season is that it has been way better than expected--especially if you read all the doom and gloom on talksox before the season started.

And I believed it because I voted the Sox would have a losing season. They still could, but right now it's hard not to be hopeful.

Thus your point is telling: the Sox aren't just 18-14, but 18-14 against some pretty good teams.

I'd like to add that when we saw the schedule, it looked like we had an easier April schedule than it turned out to be. Teams we thought were going to suck or be .500 look much better, and I'm talking about their record against teams not called the Red Sox.

Maybe PIT will go back to sucking, but they look better than we thought in March.

Toronto has a few sluggers who can bludgeon a pitching staff. But if you watch them play enough , you see that they just don't play good , fundamental baseball. And that is what holds them back.

There have been plenty of moments/games when the Sox did not play good, fundamental baseball. This season. After the four game series at the Trop, I said the Rays were better in every phase of the game: hitting, pitching, defense, baserunning, you name it.
