Did not want you guys to think I had died or anything. Just as last year when things did not look so good I decided not to expose you guys to my normal level of pessimism about the ole town team.

So I guess I will just say, they can't pitch, they can't hit and they can't field. That about sums it up and leave it at that. If there is anything to suggest things changing I will post more often again.

I wanted to give Bloom the benefit of the doubt after that miracle ALCS appearance.

Right now they are nothing but a mediocre team which is not rebuilding nor contending. Also the farm is light years away to be ready if so. Yes, they signed Devers, but for what?

This an old wounded horse named The Boston Red Sox isn’t going anywhere for a long time.

Bloom has to go. JH with him. Thanks for everything but we have to move on.

Just got caught up. Looks like Sale is not the Sale we hoped he'd be.

There is still time to get "it" back, but it's looking more and more like a long shot with every start he makes.

What really is a shame is that this game was still winnable after five despite Sale giving up 6 runs , and the Sox showing a sign of life scoring 3. Zach Kelly comes on, gives back 2 quickly then tops it off by blowing out his arm, maybe elbow. In any case he is fully baked now. Then the Sox score one more but down 8-4. Brasier looked good on one batter, there is that

Bra Man looked good last night. Maybe this is Bra's year.

If you need more on the Rays, MLB.com has a story on each team's best MiLB team. Of course the Rays is the infamous Durham Bulls (AAA) with 4 of their top 7 prospects , including Taj Bradley who they showcased for us today.

The Sox best MiLB lineup is High A Greenville ( means not ready for prime time) with Mayer, Paulino, Jordan and Gonzales, an alleged pitcher. Makes me anxious for the 2025 season.

You've got 2 years to kill. Spend them wisely.

It's disappointing that even casual Sox fans I have talked with lately have noticed this point. He can be such a better hitter with a better approach. There's just nobody that can pick him up in the batting order... but no coaches that can talk sense into the $330 million dollar man?

I'm not sure I would suggest Devers stop doing what he is doing (and ... oops, was that another HR?) and follow the advice of "casual Sox fans".

It’s a shame that guys like Trout, Othani and Devers waste their careers in teams like this.

TOTALLY agree. I actually spend a fair amount of time flipping channels to see Bogaerts and Betts play. Those guys are a lot of fun to watch (but that of course has no place in BLoomian/Henrician/analytical/corporate-greed economics).

6 outs left over 2 innings to score 2 runs, shutout the Rays and win this game. If this happens, I will applaud the grit of the Red Sox. They actually didn't fold even as their ace did

Not really. They all had(have) the option of going elsewhere.

I don't really see the Angels being able to afford both Trout and Ohtani unless they decide to go with a King and his Court alignment.

You will find Ohtani elsewhere after this season, most likely on the West Coast team, Dodgers/Giants. The Angels are a lot like the Red Sox, one or two stars and a cast of pert-timers. Shohei wants to win , Artie Moreno chose not to sell , Mike Trout is owed hundreds of millions. That is not a winning organization.

Casas, Tapia, Dalbec 1 for 12 with 6 K's. One is still learning, one was a non-roster invitee and one hass become a AAAA'er at best. Nice work, Chaim

The good news is the SOX are only down by one.

The bad news is Devers may not bat again in this game.

McGuire and Kike both bat next inning. Today they’re 4 for 6 with 4 RS and two doubles…

Ohtani will probably get more cash than Trout did. He'll be the highest paid player in MLB.

I can see Casas being the LH version of Dalbec.
