Abreu may be ready, but let’s remember what Bobby D has done down there too.

Glad you lost the "suspect" label.

Abreu is a better fielder than Bobby Dee.

2023 Ks:

124 Bobby Dee

72 Wilyer Abreu

RF is not the hitting position 1B needs to be.

Has any Sox prospects ever gotten off to a better start than Teel? (20+ PAs)

.529 BA

.600 OBP

.765 SLG

1.365 OPS

Could we see these rankings by the end of the season?

1. Anthony

2. Mayer

3. Teel

4. Rafaela

5. Bleis

Is this the best top 5 we've had since _____?

Best since 7/1/16:

Moncada

Benintendi

Espinoza

Devers

Kopech

That did look great, at the time, and judging that one in hindsight and this one in foresight seems wrong, but I would not be surprised to see this one do better.

Good pull, indeed.

On SP's projected 2024 rosters, they have Mayer, Hickey & Wikelman starting the season in AA.

Which one has the best chance to start in AAA or be promoted first?

I think Hickey has the best chance to start in AAA of the group, but if not he may be the first promotion.

From a playing time perspective Mayer is closer but the numbers haven't been there, but if he comes back healthy and smashes next year I can see him as an early summer promtion.

The top 5 of Moncada, Beni, Espinoza, Devers and Kopech all peaked as top 10-20 prospects. Bleis isn't even top 100 right now. Rafaela is still low on some lists (60-70ish).

If he gets promoted, I'm not sure what position he'd play. He couldn't play behind the dish in MLB.

If Hickey starts in AA, it's because he's learning a new position. Otherwise, they are just wasting time on him.

Wikelman probably starts in AA, but is called up sooner than Mayer unless Mayer starts off really hot. Mayer is dealing with a shoulder injury right now, so he's probably not going to get enough AA AB's this year to be on track for a quick call up next season.

Well that is just the thing, his bat is probably the closest, but if it's reaching the majors it's likely because he is mashing and at another position. I have a feeling he moves off of catcher full/most of the time soon.

I also don't think learning a new position would hold him back from AAA, I think they'd have little problem giving him a 1B mit and playing him in AAA.

Yes, that's why I said "at the time" they were highly regarded.

How about a shoutout to Slugger to making the Mascot HOF, and the first minor league mascot to do so.

Highly suspect!

He's been in the minors forever and never been called up? I'd like to see him against some real competition...

He's also not the first baseball mascot in that HOF named Slugger.

@gfstarr1

Red Sox outfield prospect Wilyer Abreu is the International League’s Player of the Week for August 7-13.

In 6 games during that span, he went 13-for-22 with 6 HR, including a grand slam on Saturday and the first-ever 3-homer game by a WooSox player on Sunday.

The whole mascot business is watered down.

I think so.

Dugo, Hickey and Drohan for a SP'er with 3+ years of control.

I think for that package maybe you can get another Pivetta type, maybe flip Pivetta as well and save a few dollars.

We do have about 5-6 pitchers who look great in long relief.

$18.8M value per BTV (approximately 4 Pivettas).

Edward Cabrera?

I think he meant Pivetta, Drohan, Hickey and Dugo for a better pitcher.
