Does Hamilton have any offensive upside to his game???

Baserunning.

A .730 to .740 OPS in AA/AAA does not seem like anything to get our hopes up about, but a 2Bman who hits .740, can steal 50-70 bases and defend okay may stick around.

.690 with so-so speed and 25 SBs, maybe not.

Bleis is really aggressive at the plate. But he can really hit. He is one to keep an eye on

I am hopeful that this summer we can see Cruz pitch 5 innings. His stuff does not make you say wow! But he seems to have decent stuff!

David Hamilton started off HOT last season too. I'm not going to hold my breath on him.

Yorke: 526/385/911 (55 BB, 1 K, 1 2B, 5 TB) I'm not going to get excited just yet either.

On the flip side, I'm also not going to be worried about a 353 OPS for Valdez on 4/12. It's just too early.

Meidroth has been meteoric.

Mayer seems to be off to a Kike start. I hope Kike didn’t rub off on him.

@redsoxstats

Anthony has 9 swing and misses in 70 plate appearances (252 pitches seen) in Salem between last year and this year.

That 3.6% rate is second lowest among 649 Single-A players with 70+ PA the last two years.

A lot of grounders so far, but this is a ++ raw power tool hitter.

I'm sure our awesome coaches will help him figure it out.

I mean to be fair, developing position players seem to be the only thing relatively constant in Boston for the past two decades. I'm sure they will help him figure it out.

IDK, I just don't see it with Murphy. Why was he protected on the 40 man? No way is he better than Thaddeus Ward.

Murphy started last season very strongly, so maybe they felt the end of 2022 was more of the fluke.

Player of the Day: With acknowledgment of the strong outing by Brian Van Belle, probably the day's best effort by objective measure, the nod goes to Salem's winning pitcher Brock Bell. It has been a long road back for Bell, the son of former major league All-Star Jay Bell. A two-way player in Junior College, he suffered a torn UCL during his sophomore season, necessitating Tommy John Surgery. He returned focused on pitching and impressed enough in the role that Boston took him in the seventh round and gave him a well-over-slot $465,000 bonus. He had a solid pro debut in 2019, posting a 2.45 ERA in 14 2/3 innings across nine starts. The momentum came to a halt with the lost 2020 season, and he then suffered a second UCL tear in May 2021, resulting in the need for Tommy John revision. Entering the year without having thrown a pitch in a live game since 2019 and with only 30 innings total in the previous five years combined, it is an accomplishment that Bell has returned to the mound at all. Bell's first professional win makes him an easy Player of the Day selection.
