Brantley

Conforto

#2 #3 pitcher Senga/Eovaldi/Kluber If Brantley and Conforto both are additions Senga seems very unlikely.

I saw 20M as a projection for Senga. Seems high TBH. I think I'd lean towards Kluber at that point.

No.

He missed last year, wasn’t very good in 2021 and isn’t much of an outfielder when playing easier fields than RF at Fenway.

If he was adversely affected by the shift in 2021, he might be an upgrade over Hosmer at DH…

I asked a700 because I vaguely remember him liking Conforto before.

He was originally projected to get $15. MLB trade rumors seem to either be on with the money but short years, or on with the years but 15% too cheap. So Maybe Senga goes somewhere in the 17-20 range for 4-5 years.

Yeah I’m not really getting the Conforto love. He’s turning 30, wasn’t good offensively in 2021 and isn’t a great defender at all.

He's not great defensively, but he's still a better defender than Verdugo.

The idea is to sign him to a one year deal and catch lightning in a bottle as he rebuilds value.

Career

Renfroe:

SLG 490

wRC+ 109

HR 157

Conforto:

SLG 468

wRC+ 124

HR 132

He's a more athletic version of Renfroe, but walks a bit more.

It looks like probably Gallo or Conforto, unless we trade for a RF'er.

Bogey or Andrus? (Maybe Swanson?)

Vazquez and/or a DH?

Nate or Kluber?

Is this the best we can expect, at this point?

Any interest in nearly 30-year-old Minnesota right fielder Max Kepler, a plus defender who is owed $8.5 million in 2023 with a $10 million team option, or $1 million buyout, for 2024?

The Twins reportedly are shopping Kepler (whose warts differ from Joey Gallo's in that Kepler's strikeout rate is lower than the league average).

Baseball Trade Values assigns Kepler a modest surplus value of $5.8 million:

I hope for a Raffy extension too, buddy...

That's probably about it though.

Kepler's wRC+ from the last two seasons is below 100 and he hasn't been reliably healthy. PASS

I’m not sure he’ll actually catch lightning in a bottle and we’ve seen a lot of these 1 year deals be a waste with nothing to show. Conforto is going to be 30 and two years removed from game time and he wasn’t very good the last time he played.

Agree about Kepler. I like him less than Conforto

A Devers extension would help, but I'd still be disappointed with the rest.

We'd basically have the same team with a better pen and Conforto> JBJ/Duran.

We'd be praying for near total health and improvements from Dalbec/Hosmer, Dugo & Kike and some serious input from the kids.

Lots of moving parts all needing to sync at once.

Beltré was 31 when he signed a one year deal here.

Right now, I just want them to fill their biggest need.

It's on Bloom to fill in the other holes. If he can do it with value adds, ok. If he fails, bye bye.

If Taijuan Walker gets $18mill AAV, Senga is a lock for $20mill…

Beltre was also a hall of fame talent who was perennial gold glover. Even if his bat regressed he would still provide value. For every Adrian Beltre that rebuilds his value, there is multiple Grady Sizemores..

Walker's deal was kind of a Dombrowski Special.

Taillon's seems more in line with current reality.

He wasn’t on the HOF trajectory at that point though.

This is true, but most guys also don’t have that good of a stretch between the ages of 31-38. Beltre was a special player

Kinda like Dwight Evans:

162 gm avg

20-30

.269 22 74 (.826 OPS/ 123 OPS+)

31-38

.275 25 92 (.859 OPS/ 132 OPS+)

Better yet, 32-37:

.283 27 102 (.886/ 139 OPS+)

This is a disaster of a signing. As a Red Sox fan in LA (and who likes the Dodger), Jansen is choking machine. Bloom did not do his homework. People are laughing.

Jansen did choke his way to a league-leading 54 saves last year…
