Average? Lol I remember when I had my first beer. What about OPS? What about defense. Also, do you know what the average average is in MLB? In 2022 it was .243. So he’s effectively and average hitter with a little pop and GG caliber defense in CF and you think 10 million 1 year is an overpay for that?????

Again nice job not naming names. A little kid just died from cancer in the last two minutes. You could literally shut all your detractors up by making an actual point and naming names. But you can’t…we all see it dude.

You guys can analyze things the way you want to, and I’ll analyze things the way I want to. I know you think your way is right for you, and my way is right for me, and all of this has been said many times over much to your chagrin. You guys like playing amateur GM’s, and I don’t, and I have said many times I’m not paid to do Bloom’s job for him rather you like it, or not, and I could care less if m distractors are shut up, or not. As for cancer I know all about that as I have cancer in my family right now, so thanks for asking. Getting all riled up over a talk forum, which is another form of a talk show is going way overboard especially when you talk about cancer, and mental institutions.

Still can’t name names.

$100 dollars. I’ll donate it to ST. Jude’s Children Research Hospital and post PROOF of it.

Think of ALL the time you spend complaining, arguing back and forth, claiming to have a good opinion based on no opinion at all. How do you know a better option than KIKE exists if you can’t even name ONE name.

That’s the thing that gets me the most. I get everyone has different opinions and visions for how to improve but when your only argument is vague statements like “go get a centerfielder” or trade for a “#1 pitcher” without naming names, contracts that make sense, and prospect packages to trading partners that makes sense you’re just talking out of your ass.

That’s what I don’t respect. Add those things in and I’ll respect a different opinion.

It’s like some fans act like the rest of MLB exists for our amusement. We can just go down to the CFer store and go get a good centerfielder for a price that works for us. This ain’t “name your price” lol. Or we can trade away our garbage to a team who will willingly give us away their top young pitchers.

It’s no wonder these people get angry when trades are actually made and free agents are actually signed. Despite their wishes to do so it’s always “too high” a price because they have zero concept what it actually takes to build a team. Remember this. I’m calling it now. No matter who the Sox sign or trade for this off-season, they are going to hate it and complain about it.

Now I expect some generic rebuttal about is being on Blooms nuts. Like yeah, we haven’t critiqued him as much as others in here, but a lot of people who have defended Bloom have also criticized him too. It’s not a zero sum game. At least we can say that.

We should keep Bogey and Devers, they say, but then give contract amounts that won't keep them.

They should trade them before they be come FAs, then when we do, like Betts, Bloom get's shellacked.

We should "add a top closer" is a popular refrain from several posters. Who is out there, now? Would you have matched the Mets offer for Diaz? (Nobody would, but Bloom is bashed for not getting a guy like Diaz for less or not getting someone less like Diaz for much less money.)

It's not easy on the FA market. All the best players are grossly overpaid, and predicting who the steals will be is very difficult. Who would have applauded Bloom has he signed Martin Perez, last winter? How many praised him for signing Wacha, Hill and Strahm?

So far, almost all of Bloom's trades included us getting prospects in return or as part of the return. By definition, those trades were not intended to help us get better now (or then, if years ago), although some ended up working out like that (Pivetta & Ottavino), but some fans expected those trades to help us right out of the gate.

To me, it's about the time to start transitioning into reversing that trade mode into making deals that help now and in the next 2-4 years while giving up prospects that project to help beyond the next 4 years, too. Will that happen, this winter? Maybe not. Maybe it happens, next winter. Maybe Bloom never pulls the trigger on a top prospect deal. We'll find out.

Who is all riled up? You seem as riled up as anyone else.

Nobody is asking you to do Bloom's job for him, nor do we think we are doing that when we give specifics to our suggestions. It's not overanalyzing.

You make very pointed comments like on Kike getting a $10M/1 deal, and then won't give even one specific example of a better choice. Yes, it's your choice to be the way you are, but don't act like we are all riled up or overanalyzing, just because we ask you to back up your opinion with specific evidence. It's how debates and discussions are structured in this world. We didn't invent the idea that positions should be supported with reasonings, evidence and examples.

It's not being "riled up" to ask for specifics.

Then, when we name names, and they suck, he never lets us forget it.

I could have said, we need to sign a top 2Bman, last winter and been 100% correct. Almost everyone thought Baez was a top 2Bman, even if they did not like the cost associated with his signing. Nobody said he was not a top 2Bman in MLB. I said I wanted Baez, and was very wrong about him, at least for 2022. I'm fine with being wrong, but when Mr. non specific rails on and on about me getting that wrong, it rings very hollow, to me.

$100 dollars donated to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital if OLDRED names his 2023 Starting outfield if Kike wasnt resigned.

Here’s mine with Kike: Verdugo/Kike/Nimmo signed at 5/105

He has until 10 pm tonight. Tik tok.

Put up or shut up time.

Prediction:

Verdugo-Hernandez-Gallo (2years / $25mill)

My preference would be:

Verdugo-Hernandez-Laureano

Pipe dream

Verdugo-Nimmo-Laureano with Kike moving to SS…

I’m not a big Gallo fan but if he comes cheap and the money is used wisely on pitching investments and/or going big on Correa I’m ok.

I don’t remember where I read but apparently Gallo was the one player who was statistically hurt the most by the shift. Perhaps he’s a good buy low candidate

That would be a terrible outfield. I guess Henry is going to make that run after the Redskins, err, Commanders.

Kiki is okay on 2nd base, but at this point in his career he's not going to turn into an every day player.

And the talk about Gallo is a joke. The guy strikes out so much the climate activists are looking to him to cool the earth, not play baseball.

Some fans don't appreciate a 28-year-old player who is one year removed from an All Star, Gold Glove 4.7 bWAR/4.2 fWAR season.

From 2017 through 2021, Kike played in 597 out of 708 games. At what point is he considered an every day player?

Wouldn’t be my choice, but one of the ideal I love about Kike in Center and signing another CFer to play right (Nimmo) is if Xander or Story goes down hypothetically you could move Kike to middle infield. Not saying that’s plan A, but it’s an option. I suppose adding Kiermaier with Kike In center gives them the same flexibility. I’m ok with it if they’re upgrading the offense elsewhere.

I'm okay with Kike at SS, 2B or CF, but to me, he's best in CF and is an excellent defensive CF'er. I'm not sure why we would move him around to make someone else fit in. I like Nimmo, a lot, but we'd still need a RF'er. Let's just get a SS and RF'er and keep Kike in CF.

If the Sox keep Kike and follow through on their desire to get more HRs from the outfield, I can definitely see them trading Verdugo, and replaced him with an outfielder with more pop.

It's funny how people like Bogaerts and Judge are going to get around 200 to 300 as 30 year old players and Kike can't be an everyday player for 10 million at 1 year older.

Red missed the deadline last night.....weird. He's normally insanely active on this board during these early hours.

Weird...hmmmm.

Well do not fret my friends I'm extending my offer until 10:00 PM tonight.

OLD RED: I will donate $100 to St. Judes Children Research Hospital in your name if you tell us YOUR starting 2023 outfield without Kike. What you would $ for FA's and prospects you would trade would be honorable, but not expected.

You know what, lets make this fun. EVERYONE ELSE who gives me their starting outfield in 2023 (you guys with or without Kike) I will up the $100 by $5 each.

Beni - LF

Kiké - CF

Verdugo - RF

Refsnyder - platoon, 4th OFer

Maybe they move Kiké to SS and grab walking IL machine Keirmaier? I think it's more likely that they end up trading for a RFer that none of us could pull out of a hat.

I'd sign Nimmo for that deal, but I think the Mets are going to pay him MUCH more than that.

I was actually looking at Nimmos games played and I'm already having buyers remorse. I like him, but there's risk there. I'd be open to a defensive stud, stop gap out there if they're upgrading the offense in another place and improving the pitching.

Ok, so I only went back a few pages into yesterday and decided to count other posters who put their outfield together as part of my ploy, including myself.

So far we have:

Notin

5Goldgloves

Moon

MVP

Hugh

That's $25 so far

The tough part is that the Sox will be better off building via trades rather than FA this offseason. It's just not a good class this year. They have extra money, but nothing to really spend it on.
