If that's the case, maybe the SOX should go after him and then trade Devers next season. I like the fact that Devers is only 25, but Judge could do serious damage at Fenway for quite a while. Just a thought.

You want Judge from ages 31-38 at $300M/8, as he breaks down, and he certainly will over Devers at ages 26-35 at maybe $320M/10?

Freaking walks always kill us!

That plus Familia was kind of just throwing the same pitch time after time. The one Torres nailed wasn't that bad, low in the zone with a little break, but that's what he was already looking for.

Many long range contracts accept the fact there's gonna be 'breakdown years.' The thing that makes the Judge acquisition even more attractive is that the SOX could obtain a pretty good haul for Devers in a trade. But this is fantasy land. I doubt Judge will leave the Yankems.

Agreed. We'd have to beat the Yankee offer by more than $1M.

You can kick Cora to the curb, too. Brainless move bringing in Familia.

More brainless letting him continue through Torres

Imagine Judge coming to the SOX. Revenge for the Babe Ruth fiasco.

The Babe was 25 in his first season with the Yankees when he hit 54 dingers with an OPS of 1.379. So, no, getting Judge at age 30 would not be remotely comparable.

Actually, it could be comparable. The Sox were dumb to let go of Ruth in 1919, age 24, and would be almost as dumb to now pay huge amounts for Judge at age 30.

So with 20 games after this imminent loss, Sox will be 69-73, 4 under. So they would need 12-8 to get to .500. Be looking for a 79 win season boys and girls . But we'll have Chris Sale back next year and Raffy Devers too, so look out AL East

Familia has done nothing to earn anyone's trust so I agree.

I might agree if I didn't know that Familia was the 5th freaking reliever in the game and is part of the 2d worst worst bullpen in the American League.

I'm already ducking.

Who's worse? I'm curious. But it was either Familia or Ort as RH relievers. Personally, I would have had more trust in the LH Strahm.

Tie game in the 10th, where the Sox haven't been that good this year. So I might save Strahm for tomorrow night.

Plus I notice you give no credit for using Brasier in the 6th when Cora pulled Pivetta with 2 on and 1 out--and Brasier got 2 outs without letting either of Pivetta's runners score.

So, yeah, I think you just might have a double standard. If something works, good for the players. If they screw up, that's on the manager. And you're not alone because someone else nailed Cora for bringing in Whitlock. In fact, it was a double whammy because he also blamed Cora for having Whitlock pitch too many innings.

It's fun times for three groups of Talksoxers: those who want to fire Cora, those who want to fire Bloom, and those who want to neuter home plate umpires.

If you use standard ERA, the Royals are worse. If you use ERA+, they’re only the 4th worst, ahead of the Tigers, Royals and Athletics.

Either way, not company you want to be in.

Familia will be DFA'd; perhaps breaking a record for most DFA'd relievers in a season. I say if a team can break a record, they should go for it.

Familia is the new Robles. Same dumpster?

I’m with you Max let’s pat Bloom, and Cora on the back for leading the Red Sox to a losing record, last place in the DIV, and nowhere’s near a playoff berth. Imagine those bad Talksoxers who want Bloom, and Cora fired. What could they be possibly thinking?
