What I do see is a team that knows deep down they aren’t going to win.

JBJ 2-29 lifetime against Gausman, 0-9 5 strikeouts this season. It only makes sense to play him against him.

Jackie with a big time ($8MM ?) buyout option has made himself a certainty to not be a tradable commodity. The Sox could send him along with about $11-$12 million to another team if they could find someone that desperate for a late inning defensive replacement or pinch runner.

That’s how I feel. Assuming the budget stays the same or grows, this winter will be his make or break moment.

 

No excuses, despite still having some deadwood. All our GMs had some.

 

DD did a terrific job here. He was brought to win a WS and he delivered. I will be always thankful for that mostly because I had the opportunity to attend that WS in LA. Said that, he left collaterals and those kind of things happen when you go for all no matter what price, and while it panned out well at the time, it is time to move on. I have a lot of faith on Bloom since he is Friedman’s boy —although I will never understand why he traded for JBJ, but that is another topic.

 

Next year will be very interesting.

That was a veteran pitcher totally schooling a rookie. Each splitter was just a tad lower than the one before.
