As far as who would I pick as the beat all-around athlete I've ever seen. It would have to be Bo Jackson and Jim Brown would be second.

He was amazing. I'd add Earl Campbell. The guy had thighs as big as most people's torsos.

Airmail Arroyo helping Matt's recovery as a pitcher. Without Bogey and JDM this team looks weak

Why didn’t JD bat for Arroyo?

I had the Sox back to .500 on May 31 ( Monday). Being 3 below with 3 games to go ( 2w/O's; 1 w/Reds), I guess anything is possible. losing 2 of first 3 to the Orioles at Fenway after the run this team was on did not seem possible . Don't enter June sub .500

The loss Friday night was a true hot mess. The second game loss today just displayed a low energy group and one large mistake , regrettably, by a young pitcher who deserved to be supported by these vets. It was said earlier in the April stretch of losing. the real problem with this team is that they aren't that interesting beyond a couple players. The mid May streak brightened the flame of fandom, but it's being pissed on now.

Annnnnnd yet Chaim has yet to do his job and secure both players .I will continue to say this “Fire Chaim Bloom “ he is the number 1 reason Boston Redsox are the mess they are .

Because Arroyo is already our right-handed power bat off the bench... and right-handed hitting outfielder... on this roster....for this always all-in contender...

And this is why people trust Cora?

Not pinch-hitting with JD there is something Cora should be asked about, absolutely. I'm fairly sure he'd have an answer, but it's definitely one of those things that drives fans nutty.

Cora did not assemble this roster. It was given to him by Boston's Chief Baseball Officer, Chaim Bloom. But thanks for giving me the opportunity to type this every day.

The way it looks, Chaim will be doing some serious disassembling soon.

Did Bloom force Cora to use arguably his best RP solely to piggyback one SP?

Did Bloom force Cora to use Barnes in extra inning games multiple times while other options were available?

So you don’t know either…

I'm sure he didn't force him, but I imagine it's something the two discussed at length and agreed on.

I have no idea if front office blueprints are pulling managerial strings, like some fans and scribes have suspected in other cities with like-minded execs, like LA and Tampa in recent World Series...

For all we know, Cora keeps pitching Barnes because he used to be good, and AC keeps hoping he will be again.... or it could be that Cora is intentionally using the personnel he's stuck with to convince Bloom to make changes before it's too late.

He's been using Barmes in mop up situations, which is where he should be used, if he's on the roster.

The weird thing, right now, is that the pen seems to only do well, like game 2, yesterday, when the need is lowest.

Yes, the pen tends to kick ass when we're behind. It is a little strange.

You've mentioned this a few times. I looked at the last two times Barnes was used in extras, and in both cases he was the 5th reliever used in the game. I don't think those other options you're talking about were all that great.

Cora is just as much to blame as Bloom for the way he has used the bullpen bad, or not.

Maybe true, but how you use a bad pen might not matter as much as constructing one.

You’re right to a degree, but like we’ve discussed not using Whitlock, or Houck as the closer with the team leading the league in blown saves to me is on Cora.

Cora had the leading hitter in the league on the bench,, and still he let Arroyo hit with the game on the line. Not a good managerial decision to me.

Agreed, but then we'd have had worse stats trying to replace the roles both of them were pulled from.

Cora has been trying to mix and match with his bullpen all season. It's very hit or miss with this group.

Many felt the same, last season, when most of Cora's mixing and matching worked out for the pen.

We had several closers, last year, too, including Richards and Robles.

RP'ers are largely hit or miss, and this year we are missing.

Last year we split 607 relief innings by 33 pitchers! Yes, 33 used in relief. Take away the 1 IP everyday player moments, and the 1 relief IP by ERod & Pivetta, and we still had 25 pitchers uses in the pen. 20 had more than 3 IP. 17 had more than 17 IP.

30 Barnes (24 saves/6 BS

17 Ottavino (11/6) At the start of the year, many felt he should have been the closer.

5 Whitlock (2/3) mostly longer innings at the end of games

4 Robles(4/0) Best save:BS ration on the team w Ruchards

4 Andriese (1/3) was DFA'd

4 DHern(0/4) now demoted

3 Richards (3/0)

2 Davis (0/2)

1 Taylor, Houck, Pivetta (1/0)

1 Brasier, Sawamura (0/1)

So far, this year, we've used 14 pitchers in relief, including Plawecki.

RP'er by most save situations

SV/BS

2/3 Robles

1/3 Diekman

2/1 Barnes

1/1 Strahm

1/1 Whitlock

0/2 Brasier

1/0 Schreiber

0/1 Davis
