Time for the Sox hitters to wake up again. They have looked somewhat listless, except for Franchy and Dalbec. Imagine that duo when hot

This just in, POPS goes up again. How the hell does this guy stay as leadoff ?? Ok, maybe , somewhere in the lineup for defense but a .265 OBP at leadoff?

He started slowly, last year, too, but how long we go on hoping history repeats itself?

Especially with this pitcher. Gonna need double digits.

Bottom half of the lineup working on getting us back

Franchy's patience on that walk was remarkable. Will he be a serious player ?

He's making 'serious' money, so I say yes, he will be.

Was coffee only free for closers? I'm sure you got better quickly and vied for Tin Man of the year awards

Nope, I quit and took a job at a bank. Maybe I should have gone into vinyl siding.

The worst thing about selling aluminum siding during my short time doing it was I'd call a potential customer and make an appointment. Now this was way before cell phones, so I'd drive 20 or so miles to their house and, of course, no one was home.

Rodney Dangerfield: "My girlfriend called me last night and told me to come on over; there's no one home. So I drove to her house and, yup, there was no one home."

It's amazing how a quick demotion totally fixed Brasier!

The after game meal spread at the MLB level is way better and Ryan knows where his bread gets buttered.

This is no joke, Pops finally popped one that no one could catch except o n the bounce in the third row for a double. Gotta love baseball, but they need to score him now.

Man on 2nd , no one out, how many did we get ?

FWIW last night the Seattle Mariners were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position in a 6-1 victory over Justin Verlander and the first-place Houston Astros.

Dalbec's rep precedes him with the umpires, and they call marginal pitches against him most times.

Which forces him to swing at balls out of the zone.

Dalbec's body language at the plate illustrates to the chUMP that he will not argue any call.

Dalbec: Was that a strike?

chUMP: Yup

Dalbec: Gosh.

A negative feedback cycle which becomes self reinforcing. Too bad Bobby is not a bad ball hitter , like Vlad Guerrero was

The booth was yapping about Story's athleticism, which reminded me that Jim Brown came to Syracuse University via a lacrosse scholarship. He was so dominant at lacrosse that some lacrosse rules were changed because of his skills.

Jim Brown hated Franco Harris, especially after Harris passed him in rushing yards. Brown told the press that Harris was a gutless runner, who ran out of bounds instead of fighting for more yardage. Exactly the opposite of how Jim Brown played the game. In his career Brown averaged over 100 yards per game rushing and was, by far, the best running back in the history of the game.

As far as who I would pick as the best all-around athlete I've ever seen. It would have to be Bo Jackson and Jim Brown would be second. Edited by SPLENDIDSPLINTER
