How many ways will any Red Sox player reach base today in any manner ? Possibility 1.: None, if the Rangers' Otto throws a perfect game . Other than that, just keep scoring 6 or 7 a game and see the difference.

You do realize, we could win again today and still not catch the Orioles.

Let's go Dick Mountain!

"This time you gave me a Mountain; a Mountain I could never climb.

It isn't a Hill any longer; you gave me a Mountain this time."

Apologies to Marty Robbins.

If Devers isn't extended I'll be really pizzed. Even more so than losing Betts and Bogey.

If you're rebuilding, build around your best players, not around your worst. As even the Texas announcers say,

what's the point of finding, developing, and bringing up players if, when they turn into stars, you don't try to retain them.

Great to the Sox hitters putting up a lot of runs.

Maybe this is what Bloom envisaged when he put this lineup together !

Devers must be signed. Sox are a big market team. Don't go cheap. Devers is an elite offensive player and he has really improved defensively.

ERA's of the 5 WooSox pitchers tonight at AAA: 20.77, 7.11, 6.43, 5.23 and 6.45. Help is NOT on the way!

Are they the only ones going tonight that Woo has?

How about...

2.75 Winckowski (.498 OPS Against)

2.93 Seabold (.563 OPS Against)

Fun fact:

In each of Hill's last 76 starts he hasn't given up more than 3 runs. WOW!

I wish Bloom could find guys like him & Wacha!

Oh, wait...

I believe Buchholz was the last good starter to be developed in the SOX farm system. I doubt any other team in MLB has a worse track record in developing pitching.

Thank goodness the SOX aren't looking for starting help; at least right now anyway.

The Rangers' announcers were discussing Dick Radatz regarding his holding the record for most strikeouts in a season by a relief pitcher. It was in 1964 and he struck out 181 batters while pitching 157 innings. Hell, nowadays, most of these pampered starters don't pitch 157 innings.

Btw, during an interview after he retired Mickey Mantle was asked who was the toughest pitcher he faced during his career. Mantle quickly answered Dick Radatz. "I knew he was going to throw me a fastball and I still couldn't hit it."

Dick Radatz had some really good years for the Red Sox and he was MLB's first real relief pitcher.
