It wasn’t any better with Kike leading off, and neither one is hitting enough to justify anything. Glad to see nobody getting the day off today. Must be all tired out from doing all that running around the bases they’ve been doing.

Actually I like this Lup which is close of what I suggested in the offseason.

 

Said that, Cora should go with the same Lup in a regular basis whichever it is. This is a good one IMO, I would only substitute JBJ for Arroyo. All these changes offensively and defensively are taxing us. The resting thing is taxing us. This team needs more stability and consistency right now. If something works, do not move it. Don't hurt yourself. Keep going.

When you make the maths offensively and defensively, I think Arroyo is over JBJ in my book. Arroyo will have a learning curve but he has proved he is a good defender in the IF so there's a hope. I expect he can be at very least an average glove in the OF.

Yup, those two do give the SOX some credibility.

JD was a big factor in the SOX 2018 championship season. Many teams have signed a player to a large long-term contract and haven't won a WS. I guess many GM's would say if this team can win at least one championship with this player, then the deal was worth it.

He can't hit a lick, but damn JBJ's a pleasure to watch playing in the OF.

JDM was huge for the Sox in '18, '20 was a mess for all, and he produced in '21 and will do so in '22 better than most on this roster. The flip side is that they definitely won't pay him again , and he is showing the effects of declining skills and power over the 5 years.

Can't really trust those guys coming from Colorado. Gonna' be from Missouri on Story. He seems uncomfortable at 2nd also.

 

Then can they make a go of it with Daubac at 1st....seems to be a butcher with the glove and doing nothing at the plate, a declining Vaz, sort of a lame in RF as JBJ can't hit and Arroyo is iffy IMO.

 

Hernandez will hit eventually. JD should be fine a DH. Verdugo is fine. Rafi is the star of this show. Bogey will hit but his fielding is in decline. He has worked his way down to an average fielding SS at best IMO.

 

Shapes up as a so-so team in a tough division from what I can tell. Pitching from the staff as a whole will likely have to surprise us for this team to really do anything this year.

 

Pitchers are throwing lots of breaking stuff this year and while it is not the insane breaking stuff of the super tack year, Sox really need to see more FB's I think.
