To me he's the face of the franchise now that Ortiz and Pedroia are gone. I'd prefer to pay him 28+ for 6 years than getting Story this off season. His defense is suspect yes but he always brings it with the bat

Devers has done nothing against Gausman over his career (1-11 and I’m sure they have info as to what kind of contact Rafael has had against him). If you’re going to give him a day off, why not do it against a guy he’s really struggled with?
