Duran is posting good numbers again too. What about that park factor though?

It has to be part of it. That being said, even if you adjust to park factors, we have some very low OPS players on the team, right now, and some promising farm hands that can maybe provide a spark or light a fire under some of our vets.

Where does Sanchez play? Do they bench Story or Devers?

I think calling Fitzy and maybe Duran up, first is most likely.

I think they wait on Casas to gain the extra year of service time. It looks like the plan is all about 2023 and 2024, anyway.

Sanchez has been around. He'd be the bench IF UTIL guy for me.

Home 1013 OPS

Away 1019 OPS

Only 1 HR on the year, so his numbers look a little better than they did with the inflated HR's last year.

I'm not against calling him up. Where do you play him? Not RF. He has a Johnny Damon arm.

Centerfield, when they trade Kike in about a month. His mentor will be Jackie Bradley, who the Sox will convince to tutor Duran, in exchange for waiting an entire season to acquire a big league right-handed hitting outfielder.

So, DFA/trade Arroyo?

I guess. I wouldn't worry about him turning into an All Star elsewhere. If the season doesn't turn around soon, it'd make more sense to just give Casas and Duran fulltime roles. Yolmer is much better than Arauz, who is a DFA candidate IMO.

1. Option Dalbec, call up Casas.

2. DFA Arroyo, call up Yolmer Sanchez.

3. DFA JBJ/Franchy, call up Duran.

AAA Pitchers that may be worth a look (no particular order):

Zack Kelly - bullpen arm, 423 OPS, 27 years old and not much more to develop (532 OPS last season in WOO)

Kaleb Ort - WOO's closer, had cup of coffee last season, 487 OPS, 30 years old see above

Seabold - if Pivetta continues to falter, does it make sense to bring Seabold up and keep one of Houck/Whitlock in the pen?

Schreiber - pitched well when called up this year in place of Houck, 642 OPS

Feltman - "closer of the future" has been ok this year, has a k/bb ratio moon would like, probably not quite there yet

Cordero could be sent down not DFA'd.

JBJ can be a defensive replacement.

Jeter Downs' scorching 10-game run

.270/.400/.595, .995 OPS

18% BB%, 24% K%

2B, 3B, 3 HR

He was striking out a ton in the 11 games before this to start the season, so hopefully this is a clicking moment. He's still 23 years old in AAA, for comparison Duran is 2 years older.

If Downs could figure it out...

Who is the next Red Sox prospect to make the top 100?

We already have yorke, cassas and Mayer in the top 100, who is next?

Walter.

That was what I was thinking. Others could be rafeala, lugo, binelas, Bello or German!

My others might be Wikelman Gonzalez, Brayan Bello, Miguel Bleis or Ceddanne Rafaela.

soxprospects.com made some recent adjustments.

Here are the biggest risers:

Lugo 29>24

German 35>30

Murphy 15>11

Rafaela 19>15

Walter 9>6

Binelas 21>18

Gonzalez 11>9

Bello 5>4

Biggest drops:

Groome 6>10

Jordan 10>14

Downs 13>16

The Groome drop makes sense. I'm not sure people still see him as a starter. McDonough's numbers have been down this season. Blaze Jordan is also not hitting like 2021. Downs may actually see a bounce back if his recent production continues.

Lugo and German make sense just because everyone is just bunched up that far down the rankings anyway. SoxProspect guys are very high on Murphy. He had massive splits last year which made them think he was a relief arm most likely. Seems to have overcome that a little bit this year, but it's still really early IMO. He will probably be called up to AAA sooner than later and I'll be interested to see how he fares there. Rafaela has been out of control this year. He could be top 10 by the end of the season if he really continues to break out. Walter is an interesting guy. He's already 25, but we have to ignore that since everyone missed a season of development in 2020. Maybe he's Brian Johnson 2.0? A solid back end pitcher, but not high end stuff like Bello? Binelas has increased his bb% is crushing it this season. The k's are still really high though.

Nice post.

I think Groome's drop says more about the rise of the Sox mid tier prospects than anything bad about Jay. The guy does have a decent .638 OPS Against, a 3.60 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. The 19-5 K:BB ratio in just 15 IP is pretty nice, too.

The guy is 23. I think it's close to time to bring him up to AAA, and see what's up. Bello may be close to a promotion, too.

It's nice that there is an interesting farm system to talk about again.

High floor/low ceiling guys like Walter are good, because it's better to have him in the rotation at 750k than have to get a 5M retread.

Is Bello a 3rd starter or a phenomenal closer? Hard to say right now.

Rafaela has a great glove and could probably be the 26th man on an MLB team if the Rule V draft happened this year. No way does he go unprotected next time.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised the farm was rebuilt, so quickly. We are still not a top 5 or 6 farm, but I think we are approaching top 10 status. We won't have high picks, this draft, but let's see what happens. We do get the comp pick from last draft.

Here's and under the radar guy:

@SoxProspects

Tyler Uberstine pitching line- 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 37/58 strikes (63.8%). The 22-year-old righty's ERA now sits at 1.59. He has struck out 16 batters over 17 IP while walking six.

Last year's 19th round pick has 1.46 ERA in MiLB through his first 9 games (7 starts), 1.01 WHIP, 24 K and 7 BB.

I think this outing was after they moved him up from #51 to #45.

Binelas went 2 for 2 tonight with two walks, one run scored and zero strike outs.

He creates such big wind, never thought I would get to type the part about zero strike outs.

@redsoxstats

Brayan Bello has finally joined Mayer, Casas, Yorke, and Duran in the BA Top 100.

He is doing some sick things to being this year, like being a starting pitcher and having a higher swinging strike rate than ace relievers German and Wallace, +40% on Walter's, +90% on Groome's.

What's the over under on when jacko admits our farm is better than the Yanks?

A) July 2022

B) Winter '22-'23

C) Summer '23

D) Never
