Do you honestly think anyone here or anywhere has said JBJ is a good MLB hitter? If so, please post the quote.

 

The facts are he hit .283 in '20 and .163 in '21. He's a .230 lifetime hitter, which is almost exactly in between; Renfroe's a career .237 hitter. The Sox team batting average just got 7/1000th worse...

EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion, and this s a talk forum. The problem is when someone has a different opinion as some on here. There should be a good balance, and some sort of disagreement, and it doesn’t mean one side is right over the other. Like I’ve said before there is a whole big world of Red Sox nation out there that doesn’t have the same opinion as some on here, but some can’t seem to handle that.

It continues to be difficult for me to imagine anyone actually seeing this as a productive move. Taking on JBJ's salary makes 0 sense to me. The complete package just ain't worth it. If people want to think that the two prospects coming over make it worth the cost, ok i guess. I don't see it myself but oh well. Hey - because he is the GM I will support him much as i did Dave Dombrowski. i'll continue to be loyal but I still don't like this move.

Lots of players have the occasional rough postseason. A rough two week stretch, even at a crucial time, is no reason to dump a player. Renfroe struggled heavily at the end of the Houston series, but you know who else did? Everyone else…

Well first off I'm not the Red Sox so I don't feel obligated to fully defend this position. But it's for only one year, a year in which they're willing to go over the cap anyways, but they're also getting prospects back in return. They effectively got a guy who was considered by some a top 15 talent in this past years draft.

 

Also, and this is conjecture, I think it's unfair to call it a trade of Renfroe for JBJ, because those prospects have value and I don't think JBJ is replacing Renfroe as an everday player.
